Re: Have you heard of Top Tier Gasoline?

I had heard of top-tier a while back (maybe not with that label), so I found this an interesting thread to follow. Something that just came into my inbox - Pennsylvania has legislation proposing the removal of the ethanol requirement in gasoline, so it's definitely starting to get government attenti...

Re: Trailers - Legally, What's Allowed?

I have a homemade utility trailer; I didn't build it myself, but as I understand it the guy who built it drew up plans, and submitted it to the MTO along with a signed form indicating it's a homemade trailer. On my ownership it reads something like "File 123456789" as the VIN. I would star...

Re: 2000-2003 PATHFINDER PROBLEMS

I'm running the Grabber AT2s on my '01 and they're awesome. The only downside is they pick up and fling rocks when on a gravel road. I would think that's true of pretty much any comparable tire though.

Congrats on the purchase!

Got a coolant flush yesterday at Milton Nissan. Thanks Mike! The heat coming out the vents is nice and hot, just in time for Winter II :)

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

With the help of Bow_tied, installed rear load leveling air bags. We each took a few pics, so I'm sure between us we could probably do a quick writeup.

Couldn't believe how saggy my stock springs were, what a difference, even with just 12psi in the bags.

Thanks again Ron!

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

That looks sweet! Technically it was last weekend, replaced the front half shafts, rotors, pads, pins, etc. The cv boots were rotten and the pads were down to metal, kinda needed to be done :) Taking apart th locking hubs, I tore the paper gaskets, so I decide to see if I could get replacements. Re: I joined the 'Failed ETest' club!

Ron had sent me a link on this that comes from the Ministry of the Environment ; See page 11 for the information pertaining to OBDII scanning of '98 and newer. I also read somewhere that MPPs were calling for a reduction of the test costs as it's now about 10 minutes and no real physical work being ...

Re: I joined the 'Failed ETest' club!

Here's one overview I totally stole from another forum so I can't verify the accuracy: "Starting January 1st 2013, Drive Clean will start using the diagnostic power of the on-board computer for vehicles 1998 and newer. Tailpipe emission testing will no longer be used for these vehicles. Instead...

Re: I joined the 'Failed ETest' club!

Makes me wonder if they will ban code scanners or something like that. If all it's based on is codes, then I can FINALLY pass E-testing! What a joke though... I don't think they'll be able to succesfully ban scanners. The reading I have done so far leads me to believe that there needs to be an esta...

Re: I joined the 'Failed ETest' club!

Just remember that they are changing the e-test. It will be based on trouble codes and not on emissions. So if you are not throwing a code then you should not have an issue. Not sure when they are going to start rolling this out. Ron and I were chatting about this today as well. Jan 1, 2013. Accord...

Re: I joined the 'Failed ETest' club!

Did you get a conditional? Yes, they ran the comptuer diagnostics then an "engine analysis" that included checking the spark plugs, gaps, etc and run a cleaner through the motor. Next step would have been PCV, but that would have put me over the $450. In the end I think I paid about $350 ...

Re: I joined the 'Failed ETest' club!

Usually high NO is CAT related. I'd try changing the plugs, to ensure you're getting a full burn, you can do the PCV, as it's cheap, and make sure you get the cats HOT before the test. If the truck isn't properly warmed up, the cats won't work properly. fill up with premium gas and put some cleaner...

'01 Pathy Alternator Replacement

Hi Guys I know someone has changed one of these. The SM page SC-29 just has a picture indicating what bolts to undo for "removal and installation". How do you get the alternator out of that cramped space? There seems to be no "exit path" for the thing. Also, any recommendations, ...

Re: Insurance & your mods - Do you divulge?

I know people who had issues with replacing a V6 in a mid sized truck with a V8. Wouldn't matter if it was the most anemic 305cid engine it was a no-no - unless that displacement V8 was a stock option. So, I could remove a V6 from a chevy 1500 and put in a 350 with 400hp that'd be ok, but a 110HP 3...

I wouldn't use vaseline - it makes sense that it'd work as it repells water, but it also becomes SUPER thick in the wintertime and becomes almost gluelike.

You need something "thin" like a silicone lube or WD40.
