Re: Axes and shovels

Sherri and I hike to the decommissioned firetowers up north and climb them and take pictures. Some people travel to see the seven wonders of the world. Some people travel the oceans blue. Sherri and I - we travel to firetowers. Uh, how cool is that? New thread with some sample pics please! :happyda...

Is that a good thing, meaning it holds it away from the metal, or is it a bad thing, meaning it holds it against the metal?

Re: Oil Spraying

There seem to be two schools of thought on rustproofing: 1) the drippy ones that get in all the nooks and crannies, but drip all over your neighbours driveway and 2) the thick ones that don't run into all of the nooks and crannies, but go on nice and thick and in theory last throughout the winter th...

Jeez, I take it back, after watching the videos on the right hand side of that Juke page, my updated advice is to get a good used CRV!

Re: New vehicle advise

If the Murano and Rogue are on your short list, be sure to check out the Juke while you're there: http://www.nissan.ca/vehicles/suv/juke/en/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Looks better in person than is does in pics imo...apparently it moves along pretty well too.

Re: Red Rock Challenge

Currently the JK Wrangler "Overland 01" enjoys the support of a few companies in making it ready for the next journey including suspension, tires, wheel spacers, lighting and front bumpers. Great report! Not sure if the mods will mind, but I'd love to hear more about which compa...

...and yeah, I'm more focused on 2 wheeled "adventure travel" these days, but it would be great to build up something on 4 wheels that wasn't just a weekend warrior.

It was in the parking lot at the zoo yesterday...first vehicle in a while that has turned me back into a little kid.

Re: R51 Fan Clutch Shot?

It wasn't a 10 minute job for me, but I am a hump. Unless you've done it a bunch of times, I have no sweet clue how you could do this in 10 minutes on an 2005+ truck. Having said that, the "how" is pretty obvious when you open the hood, it's just a matter of getting to the 4 bolts that hol...

Re: R51 Fan Clutch Shot?

Thanks to Bender I got it all fixed up tonight. It wasn't the 10 minute job I was hoping for - there was no way I was getting that fan and clutch out of there without removing the intake, fan shroud, top rad hose etc., but it all worked out. Unfortunately, I did lose one of the nuts that reattaches ...

Re: R51 Fan Clutch Shot?

Can you stop it with your hand ( seen this done in the back, but not for the inexperienced!)? Hah! I've only tried with my tongue and it hurt like hell. Doing more research here and apparently bad tensioners are even more common, but I don't really understand how a loose belt could cause this level...

R51 Fan Clutch Shot?

So my 2005 Pathfinder (just passed 100K on the odo) sounds like a garbage truck when I step on the gas. All the neighbors stop and stare as I'm driving down the street  I assume it's the fan clutch (apparently a common issue on the VQs?) I've read that this is a 10 minute job to swap out on som...

Just do it brother...really, how bad can it be? besides, you need something to wheel ;) So you convinced me...parked it in my driveway tonight. It is certainly a far cry from the Legacy GT it replaced, or the Genesis Coupe 3.8 I was considering instead. This thing rides like a toaster on whe...

Re: Can somebody talk me into our out of this?

Digging up old bones here...the Subaru is gone - she burned oil like nothing I've ever seen :disapprove: Now I'm back on to the Heeps, but to get what I want this time, I have to look new. Did anybody realize that these things are $40K? :stickwack: I would say that Chrysler has lost their wa...
