Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Ya, I ahve heard annual inspection and that it is a function of mileage. Older cars, heck even the pathfinders like ours have packed bearins and they see a lot more kms and a lot less service. But for all the time it takes it is better than a break down with the family along. Jay, did you mean the ...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Jay/Miner - how often do you repack your trailer wheel bearings? I hear some people do it every year but that seems like overkill to me. And when are you guys arriving at camp? I repacked them the week that I purchased the trailer right before AW 2012, and then checked them last year at the beginni...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Going out on a limb here re. Jay's truck, based on some knowledge and sixth sense: - PS pump - alt. - rad - some random electrical issues that will solve themselves - wheel bearings - something with the leaf springs, hard to tell from so far away.... Lol, you're close! The list is longer then that ...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Trailer is out, lines flushed, batteries charging, interior cleaned. Still need to wash and wax, treat the roof, stock the fridge... The truck is a different story. Spent a good part of the night pulling the rear bumper back into position, along with the edge of the quarter panel. It would appear m...

Re: Radiator has blown

So - Jayman, based on the above: you're good to go! Still skeptical.... As a polite FYI to you, good sir; my power steering pump is on it's last legs, so prepare yourself for that on your truck. Alty too actually, but it's been dying a very slow death, fighting tooth and nail to go as long as it can.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Oil changed and Ambient Air Temperature Sensor replaced in the V70, now I need to get all the readiness checks to go "ready" for the e-test. Order placed to Rock Auto for the Maxima, Y / Flex Pipe, Rotors and Pads, ABS Sensor, and associated hardware. Turns out my truck and trailer / heav...

Re: Under Truck Spare Tire and Aftermarket Rear Bumper

If you plan to take the off-road trailer off-road, then you need something that can provide the articulation needed for said purpose. Pintle does the job obviously, but does have some limitations.

Re: VG33ER

My SC was replaced under warranty at around 85k kms, I haven't had any problems with the replacement unit at all.

There is a thread on the board somewhere that talks about replacing the oil in the SC, so it is possible to do it, but it's not a step that is recommended or required by Nissan.

Nissan also makes (made) manual hubs for the 98-04 Frontiers, 200-2004 Xterras and a bunch of years for the Pathfinders and Hardbodies. They were actually made by Warn, branded with the Nissan logo. They are becoming harder and harder to find, as they don't produce them anymore, but they are interch...

Yup, I've had this issue before. It actually happened to me last night trying to get into my Maxima that has been parked for a couple of weeks now. The mechanisms do not like really cold weather, especially if they haven't seen much lubrication for a while. All of the above info is good to get thing...

Re: Stock Airbox vs Volant

In order to get my stock box sealed up, I had to move it around and bend a couple of brackets to make it work. I also had to silicone the numerous holes in the bottom of the box as well. There are small drain holes in the bottom of the air box to allow any condensed moisture to drain OUT of the box,...

Re: Different cold weather problems

Design the motor, design the truck, then make motor fit into truck any way you can, with no regard for any mechanic or owner who has to work on the vehicle once it has left the factory. Admittedly, our vehicles are better then most others. I was reading about some of the newer vehicles coming out, w...

Re: Different cold weather problems

I think you've narrowed it down to the starter. Could be a bad solenoid on the starter, not letting the juice flow through. SUCKS working outside in this kind of weather. I've got a bad bearing somewhere in my serpentine system, and I've been VERY reluctant to go out and try and figure out what it i...
