So I got a new cell phone. Now with Tapatalk or Instagram they want access to all my private pictures. Is there a way around it?

If it's an Android you can go into the app settings and disable whichever permissions you want, but if you disable photos you won't be able to post or save pics from the app.

Nope it's a valid request for Tapatalk. It can't upload pictures you post without it. Now things like a game that want permissions to the files I give a hard no to.

Think of it like this: the App needs to be able to find the photos in your photo album on your phone when you ask Tapatalk to post a picture such as in a forum thread. Giving it permission allows the app to get the photo you are trying to post. It isn't going to go in a look at them all, although anything is possible I suppose.

If you never want to upload a photo via tapatalk then don't allow it access to your photos and yer done.

Even if you control where in the file system to look the app still needs permission to that part of the file system to show you a browsing window, and the contents on the folder. (aka the pictures) thats just how computer file system permissions work.
