These things quit at the same time? If so, that's is unusual - perhaps a common failure point that's electrical? Broken ground wire?

Hey Guys, a coupke of questions. Do you heated seats work well? Mine seem really weak. I see alot of people seem to have the same experience. Must be a Nissan thing. The heated seats on my old G35 weren't very strong either.

The other question is, does your X sometimes take a long time time shift from 4hi to 2hi? Meaning the little wheels on the instrument panel keep flashing for what seems like a long time?

My heated seats work well enough. They take a little while to get warm. They are not as hot as other vehicles I have owned. If it was really cold out I might not take it off high for a very long time whereas other vehicles I have I could only tolerate hi for 5-10 mins then it was too much. There is a bit of personal preference, my wife could have the seats on high for a long in nearly any vehicle I think.

Is the slow shift in and out of 4x4? Or only out? Are you doing so stationary or moving? Try reversing 2-3 metres. I am not sure, but I suspect it might be the front axle is slow to disengage. If it was not used a lot in the past it might need some exercise.

Slow shift only happens going from 4 back to 2 while moving forward in a straight line.

The heated seats have been weak on all the Nissan's I've had... Better than the ones in my VW that caught fire, I guess. They work enough to keep me thawed out but that's about it.

yeh my heated seats in my Frontier are slow to warm as for the slow shifting it a wheel speed sensor dependent and if there is any kind of bind in the front driveshaft it won't come out of 4Hi until there isn't any. Next time try swinging the wheel left to right a bit.

Ok thanks Guys.

Here's another one...when the fuel gauge gets low enough for the light to come and I fill it up it only takes about 60 litres, suggesting there is still 20 or so litres left in the tank, well over a 100 kms. Anyone else experience this?

That is pretty normal. on both my Frontier and Xterra the light comes on at about 60L

Probably 10L reserve and 10L below the tank pickup or something like that.

Ok thanks for the feedback fellas. This is my 3rd Nissan product. The first 2 were quirky. I shouldn't be surprised that this one is too.

Also, bigred44, I tried what you suggested about the slow shift out of 4hi and that worked like a charm.

When I can I also reverse a bit to take the tension off the front to help it release.

Hey bow_tied, did you have a chance to replace your diff breather? Mine is acting badly. Got clogged/jammed and caused the pinion seal to leak diff fluid. Mechanic cleared it but it's clogged/jammed again.

What most people end up doing is converting to the older style with the hose instead of replacing the one on there. You can remove the top part and clamp some hose to it, and run the hose somewhere up high with a filter on the end to keep dust out.

Thanks Guys. Looks like an easy mod but it still uses the factory breather which acts badly. Or does it act better once it's out of the way of road spray/grime/etc.?

for the mod you usually pull the spring loaded cap off the breather so it acts better than normal. The main problem with the current breather is the cap gets stuck and doesn't work properly once it is dirty or clogged. If you do the extention mod there is no cap on it to get stuck any more.
