Question - load sensing valve bypass ?

Postby mtnman » Fri Sep 25, 2020 7:35 pm

2001 Pathfinder SE 3.5L 4x4: I have major leak issues with rear brake lines, specifically the load sensing valve.
If I repair the leaks, is it safe to completely bypass the load sensing valve?

Yes, people did it all the time. The only thing the valve does is increase/decrease the pressure to the rear brakes depending on how much squat the rear of the truck had (how much load in it)

Thanks for your reply, appreciate it!

I don't tow anything, never have heavy load in back cargo area, or rear passengers. So without the load sensing valve, and no weight on the back end, I've heard that the rear brakes will start to lock up... If this does in fact happen, it could potentially be an issue during the winter months on snowy/icy roads.

Do you have first hand knowledge of bypassing the load sensing valve, or know if my braking will be affected as stated above?

They should be fine. I never heard of anyone having problems.
