Hey Everyone!

The power window on the drivers door runs very slowly in the cold. So slow it almost stops. This doesn't happen when it's warm out. Anyone else experience this? I need to replace the power door lock actuator on that door anyway so I would do both jobs at the same time.

I have had this one several cars, not just my X. I was able to get the window to move considerably better by spraying silicone spray into the tracks. If you have the door panel off you can probably get to the lower portions than I did. But it does help.

Update on this. It doesn't seem to be just the cold. It seems like moisture gets in the track on an above zero day, then the temp drops, freezes the water, then the slow movement starts. That's my hypothesis anyway. I think you're right Adam, silicone spray in the tracks ought to fix it. The lift motor itself is likely ok.

The lift motor may be getting a bit weaker but I'd definitely try the spray first as it's likely a combination of issues and silicone spray is way cheaper

I think my motors are just weak. (Or there's an electrical thing that I can't be bothered to get into.)

New info on this - I've ascertained that the glass itself is loose in the grippers. I've I shift the position of the glass while it's acting stupid (ie - going up slowly) it all of sudden goes up at the right speed. Why this only happens under cold/wet conditions and not cold/dry, warm/wet, or warm/dry conditions, I can't seem to figure out.

I'll hazard a guess - when cold, the rubber weather-stripping is harder and therefore the friction against the window is different. You'll need to determine the correct bias of the glass position before tightening.

Maybe that's why someone left it loose in the first place. Oh well, once the warm weather arrives...

Mine as well. I need to get in there and lube it up...hold still!!!
