I understand the idea sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, but try to use some common sense and be safe about it!

Look how many other trucks were there if they linked a couple together they could have pulled it out nice and gently. I'm sure someone will say that is dangerous too but safer imo.

Linking two tow-lines together with a block is a bad idea. Very bad.

Just another one of those videos that safe wheeling groups can use as an example for what NOT to do during a recovery.
I've daisy chained vehicles together before, for added stability & pulling power, but never connected 2 straps with a shackle like that. That's nutty.
The result from when the strap snapped, is exactly why you don't do that. You have essentially created a lethal projectile.
"Well, we go you out..." Yup, you sure did. You're damn lucky no one was injured in the process though!

There's a reason why there's a right and wrong tool for every job. However all of us have been guilty of using what we have, and excepting the risks, to get a job done with the wrong tools. I say learn from them, remember what can go wrong and if you find yourself in the same position for safeties sake put a floor mat or a blanket over your cheap rope or any cable, it could save your life.
I will admit to daisy chaining everything in my truck and in Northern Fellers (think over a hundred feet) to get out of an impossible spot. We addressed the situation, weighed the risk and made a decision. We took precautions and it worked out. Did I learn from it, you bet, would I do it again...If I had to with caution. A note this is one of the reasons all my straps and chains are significantly overrated, my shackles on the other hand due need to be addressed.
