Neoprene Seat Covers for 2012 Xterra

Post by Cracker »

One of the best things I ever did when I got my first Xterra was to put neoprene seatcovers on the front and rear seats. Has anyone got them for their 2012 and if so, where did you get them?

I have not gotten any yet but they are in my future. I have been looking at the Cover King ones. They have a variety of materials, patterns for the X, and offer the Ballistic covers with a MOLLE back for accessories. There have been many write ups on these on the NewX website.

I've looked at Wetokole (http://www.wetokole.com/NISSAN.html) and Cover King, but have never been able to pull the trigger. Wish I had day one.

Any vehicle that has side impact airbags, noted by a "SRS" label in the side stitching of the seat should never have a seat cover installed on it.

Is it dangerous or is it just so that the label remains visible?

When I was pricing out the Cover King covers their selection guide provides options for seats with or without side impact airbags. This would lead me to believe that they provide the cutouts which do not impede the deployment of the airbag. I didn't buy them yet, but I would hope they have considered the SRS features of today's seats. I would not make the assumption so I would definitely check with the manufacturer.

Ahhhh. It is making sense now. I always assumed that the side impact airbags were located in the door, ceiling, or pillar but I am guessing they are in the seat! Makes sense now.

curtain airbags are in the roof, right near the edge of the head liner
side impact airbags can come from either the pillar, the door, or the seat depending on the manufacturer.

all Nissan vehicles side airbags are located in the seat back assembly

I ordered the Cover King ones for the front and rear seats today. I will post some pics once I get them and install them. They are available through Costco actually and they are airbag friendly.

Amazingly after only 8 days the rear seat covers arrived from California! They look very well made and are a nice thick neoprene. The fronts haven't arrived yet but hopefully they won't be far behind.

Cool - Please post up pics when you have them installed. I am looking forward to getting your opinion on these as I am looking at getting some as well.

Sorry I don't have any pics yet but I wanted to give a bit of a review because Costco has 15% off all coverking seatcovers and car covers May 6-19th. I could have saved myself $60 had I ordered them on sale!

Anyhow, the covers are awesome. Neoprene is thick and the seams are tight. Fit is fantastic, not a ripple anywhere. In fact, no one will know they are aftermarket, they fit that well. They are quite a bit better quality than the Nissan brand ones I have on my 2001 X. They took exactly 9 days from time of order to arrive, and they came fed ex from California. Total cost for full fronts and rears was $530... Not cheap but they are quality covers.

I went with the black/charcoal combination and they are in Coverking's neosupreme material. Be careful ordering the correct front seat covers - there are several combinations (w or wo lumbar adjustment, w or wo 2 seat bottom adjustment knobs, w or wo pass seat fold flat).

They come with flaps for the airbags located in the seatbacks. I will get some pics up soon I promise but if you are thinking of ordering some, you won't be disappointed.
