Hello Everyone

Post by gtilford »

Hello everyone bought a 2007 Xterra this summer and found this page while looking for information on doing some modifications to the vehicle. Thought I would join the sight and become a member just to meet some of the people out there and possibly meet up with fellow members who have similar interests. I work as a farm hand so am kept pretty busy thru the week and part of the weekend plus with having a teenage daughter who swims competitively do not have a lot of free time but still try to make time for my interests.
Hope to meet some of you all over the coming months

So I purchased a 2007 Xterra with the Offroad trim package, truck had 107,000 kms on purchase. After reading thru the forums I am thinking the first thing I should look at doing to the truck is adding skid plates and a good set of of tires, it currently has a set of cooper discovery AT3's on from the dealer. I use to own a 1986 hardbody when they first came out and the biggest tire I put on the truck was a set of 30/9.50 15s and that truck would go anywhere the bigger trucks would go with a little finesse and careful driver lines. So with that being said I am debating a set of stock 265/75 16 Duratrac or maybe bumping it up to a set of 285/75 16 and doing the melt mod. I am looking at turning the cargo basket up top into a lockable fishing rod holder to at least keep the honest people out. After that who knows I guess it just depends how bad the bug bites as it use to be so easy to wheel but with all the idiots out there today we keep losing places left, right and center. Just last weekend we have a foot bridge over the CN tracks here in Woodstock that have to be close to 100 years old and some idiot in a jeep drove up and over, he ruined the stairs leading down from the bridge and they are still looking into any structural damage. Just one more black spot against the 4wheeling community.

That's crappy. :irked: Anymore details or on-line discussion of the incident?

Welcome to CNTC.

I'd go with the 285s or at least a taller tire then stock.

As for the incident, "It's a Jeep thing" we wouldn't understand.

I'd suggest the larger tires, and a decent engine and gas tank skid or a full set if you can afford them. One other thing i would suggest are sliders so when you do go out you can keep your rocker panels intact.
i would also look into the SMOD(Strawberry Milkshake of Death) mod because it's an 07 the mod is free to do it's a matter or switching some hoses just takes time. i know of a couple people that the SMOD has claimed their transmissions.
