access to Crank Pos Sensor for 2000-2004 Xterra
my 2002 X is throwing a couple codes: p0335 (CKP) and p0328 (Knock). I am starting with the CKP first. I just wanted a recommendation for the best way to get access to the sensor. I know it is at the top of the bellhousing, so to get to it from above looks like I have to remove the upper intake mannifold. I have seen some youtube clips that show going in from the passenger side wheel well, but it is unclear if that is 1st Gen Xterras or 2nd Gen...not sure if there is a difference in sensor placement between the two generations. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you are able to reach it from the top (depends on your arm reach) do it that way. The other way is to remove the transmission crossmember and let the transmission drop. Then do it from the bottom.
You may have to disconnect the exhaust to get enough rotation.
As for the knock sensor. Search around. There's a bunch of threads on knock sensor bypasses

We have several very good threads on the KS relocation mod.

Hi Duane,
Great to see your rig tonight, looking good! Always good to have another solar yellow rig on board.

I think I have a knock sensor in the garage if you are for one. Never got around to doing the mod.
