^^ cats play silly tricks too

does the alarm go off somewhat consistently (ex. every 5 or 10 minutes)? Could be the door/hood closed sensors. Make sure all doors and hood are properly closed (check for the door open warning on the dash). Also check that the switches for the door closed are working properly at each door and on the hood (some may be sticking). I would start there then look for other causes. You could also use the remote to unlock then re-lock the truck

Happened on my 07 and I thought it was battery related but found out that the rear door was not closed completely and the alarm would go off every five to ten minutes (real annoying).

The only other time it went off was when it was really cold out.

Factory alarm doesn't have a shock sensor. It only goes off if a door switch opens, or if panic button on remote is held down.

If all door switches work, including hatch (it's part of the latch) then it might be a bad remote.

Take the battery out of your key fob. If the alarm stops going off, you need a new remote. (I've seen it many times)

It's happened 4 times that I know of, totally random, once Sunday morning then a day later at night, I was wondering if the fob batteries dying would trigger the alarm? But maybe as posted the whole fob is nfg?

The alarm in my 2000 Xterra randomly started going off one night. When I stood outside the truck and watched, (all doors locked etc.) The ignition seamed to be going on and off all by itself! It was even beeping as if the keys were in the ignition. Then the alarm would go off. I disconnected the battery for the weekend. After that, the problem didn't come back??

I was researching a failed or problematic Security Control Module, but since the problem is gone, I gave up. It was a rainy day when this happened for me as well.

I had this problem. The alarm wouldn't sound but the four ways would go and the locks would open and close. Slavex had it too. It was water getting into the panel on the driver side door as well as a bad battery in the fob. And a fob wearing out. I just stopped using the fob.
