Wrench Pouches
Hey Dooods, trying to find some wrench pouches, and not having much luck. It would be nice to have them in leather or something better than plastic. Okay, maybe I haven't looked that hard. Thought I would hopefully save time and ask you guys. Ya there on eBay,but its nice to see them and touch them first. I know, thats what she said. What ya got?

Re: Wrench Pouches
Probably not the cheapest option but have you checked Lee Valley?
Personally I'd look for canvas over leather or plastic.

Re: Wrench Pouches
They are not so hard to make if you have access to material (canvass, old jeans) and a sewing machine. I should see if folks are interested and make one.
For loose wrenches I am using an old ruler sample pouch...the kind that ruler sales force carry around with samples back in the old days.

Re: Wrench Pouches
I have a good one from Blue Ridge down in the states. Bought it back when the dollar was good. Nice and heavy and rolls up tight. Also makes a good mat for bolts when working on the trail

Re: Wrench Pouches
yea, i need to make a pair for my metric and standard sets i carry on the trail. i was thinking about it yesterday when the plastic cracked in the cold. there are a few canvas repair shops that do boat tops ect. they may be able to make some- i will look into it, using my exiting pouches as a template

Re: Wrench Pouches
I've had luck on heavy sowing with shoe repair places. If you cut it, pin it, and mark where you want it stitched they may well do it for dirt cheap.baja toy wrote:yea, i need to make a pair for my metric and standard sets i carry on the trail. i was thinking about it yesterday when the plastic cracked in the cold. there are a few canvas repair shops that do boat tops ect. they may be able to make some- i will look into it, using my exiting pouches as a template

Re: Wrench Pouches
I will add this to the winter projects. How many wrenches do folks carry on the trail? The usual suspects are the 10mm, 12mm and 14mm. Probably good to have space for doubles of these wrenches. Any other sizes need for the trail?

17, 19, 21, 22, 24. Could also use 3/4 13/16 7/8 and 15/16 if you don't have metric versions.

Is this for your garage toolbox, workbench, rig's toolbox or?
I use these in my tool box:
Cheap and easy to grab/put back. These are also wall mountable as the notches are angled. These are not good for portable as they do not hold the wrenches with a friction fit.
This is a similar deal except there's a spring loaded tab so it is portable. Not so great for in a tool box as you have hold it down to remove the wrench but good to carry or wall mount.
There are alternate versions of each out there. Just thought I'd share an different idea than the pouch. The pouch idea is good for rolling up and leaving in a small portable tool box in a truck.

Doesn't your rig use metric hardware, Gary?
