Power steering box leak-another victim!
So where did everyone get their remans and how much did you pay?
Nissan SB is about $ 2400 retail, my cost about a grand less, reman from NAPA my cost is $505 and Milton Auto my cost is $450.
Anyone get it cheaper from somewhere else? Or are all of you still topping up your fluids and keeping an eye on it?

when i got tired of
"just topping it up and keeping an eye on it"
I traded in the truck.
I also understand that this may be considered by many as a little extreme.

Re: Power steering box leak-another victim!
I've been topping mine up and keeping an eye on it. I've been planning to get a rebuild kit and try that on for size but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Re: Power steering box leak-another victim!
Mine was leaving an 6-8" diameter puddle everywhere I parked...with two bottles of Lucas Oil stop leak in the system. Replaced mine last week; took a little less than 2 hrs to do, and I got my steering back.
After a lot of searching, I picked up a re-manufactured unit (A1 Cardone P/N: 278416) for $300 + $130 core at A&A Auto Parts in Hamilton. That is the average-joe-walking-in-off-the-street price. Cheapest I could find in Canada. Found one at Advance Auto Parts in the states for $269 USD (~$290 CDN); a close second.

Sorry to hear...
Mine was remanufactured a couple summers ago and has since started to leak again - although that was due to some tie rod ends going bad,,,
I just top it up...

If you can hold off for a bit then perhaps rebuild one from a wrecker?

Why don't you see if you can convert it to an R50 rack and pinion system......Bender wrote:sandor wrote:Mine was leaving an 6-8" diameter puddle everywhere I parked...with two bottles of Lucas Oil stop leak in the system. Maybe you had better take Rod so he can get you some sort of 'behind-the-counter' discount. I went with cash...price was still $300; guess I wasn't their typenew4x4'r wrote:Bender, go with Cash... A&A is a great place if you have cash :-D

No Pete, you just need to wear a Muay Thai shirt into A&A. Then you get the "ok, don't kick me in the head" discount. It's all a matter of unspoken messages.Sandor wrote;

Re: Power steering box leak-another victim!
Oddly, it seems less common on older Pathfinders (WD21) and doesn't happen AT ALL on the 96-2004 Pathfinders (rack and pinion setup)

Re: Power steering box leak-another victim!
A&A is good, and usually the cheapest. I would also call Barton Auto Parts, KC auto in St. Catharines, and Automotive Warehouse, also St. Kits.
Finally, cross reference with Autopartsway.ca
Among those 5 you will find the cheapest part.

Re: Power steering box leak-another victim!
Looks like A&A it is. They quoted me the same $300.00 price tag stating retail on that would be $765 and change.
Just FYI for any others in need.
