Bumper Arrived!!

Post by CanadianX »

Well pretty much as promised my bumper arrived (order 20 Dec arrived 29 Jan) on time. UPS indicated it was a 240lb pkg....UPS is full of BS, not sure what it weighs but I took unloaded it and put it on the bench myself.
Installed the winch and will wait for some better weather so I can clean the X off before I slide it into the garage for the install.
Pros: Well pkg, no ding or scruffs at all also lighter then I thought (maybe 125-135lbs)
Con: Didn't come with any mounting hardware - called Iron Bull and they gave me a list of what was needed - not much about a doz nuts bolts and washers, but still it should have come complete. One other con, the through hole that allows you to get a socket onto the bolt head in order to bolt the winch in didn't line up perfectly on one hole so I had to dremel it out a bit. Might have been just the coating in the way as I did only a minor reaming.

It's probably not it's actual weight buti t's weight calculated by the size of the package, it's how the shipping companies do their buisness. Basically, it doesn't matter if that box was just full of foam, it's considered 240lbs by UPS because of it's size, or "volumetric weight" as they call it.

For size...unless the weight exceeds it's "volumetric weight" than you pay extra for it's actual overweight. Pretty much they charge you for the most expensive way they can.

Bumper is on, still need to do some more adjustment to allow for body movement, right now it's to tight to the fenders.
I'll post more pics later, but here's a taste.
