Personalize your Garmin nüvi start-up screen with the CNTC or Nissan logo.

Save any of the images below to your computer's hard drive.
(These images are for the 4.3" wide screen nüvi)




(These images are for the 3.5" screen nüvi)




(These instructions are for a 7xx series Garmin nüvi but similar steps should work for most nüvis.)

Using the USB cable that came with your Garmin nüvi, plug the GPS unit in to your computer and copy the images to the JPEG folder on the Garmin drive.

Unmount the nüvi from the computer, unplug the USB cable and then start up your nüvi.

From the Home screen, click on the "Tools" button then click on the "Picture Viewer" button.

Click on the image you want to set as your start-up screen. It will display full screen.

Click on 'Display at power on?' in the top-left hand side of the screen to add a check to the checkbox.
(If there is no checkbox on that screen click on the "i" icon or "info" button on the toolbar)

Power the GPS unit off and then on again to see the new start-up screen load.

For the nuvi 265w add this step.

Click on the image you want to set as your start-up screen. It will display full screen.

Select "info". On the next screen select "Display at power on?" then the back button until you are back to where you want to be (or turn off and back on to see the splash screen)

Click on 'Display at power on?' in the top-left hand side of the screen to add a check to the checkbox.
(If there is no checkbox on that screen click on the "i" icon on the toolbar)

Just updated my GPS unit - from an old C330 to a nice ( but still old ) 1490T - and I used this to change my start up screen !

Hmm mine stopped displaying the Shift_Eh that I had set, as well as the "Garmin" splash screen. It's just blank til the agreement part comes up. Anyone know what could cause this?

Use the instructions I posted above to navigate to the 'Picture Viewer' and make sure that the images are still available and the one you want as your startup screen is still selected.

If that doesn't solve your problem try doing a hard reset. Check your manual for instructions on how to do that as it may be different for each model of nüvi.
