Re: Suspension Lift Kit

Post by X-Treme »

So, for those who are interested.

The lift went well but the heat outside nearly killed me and I'm sure everyone else that stopped by to help. Oh, and thanks again to everyone who did come by, whether it was to help or lend moral support or just to give us all a hard time. I, WE, really appreciated it.

Anyway, the lift is on but I need to make some adjustments. The front needs to be cranked up a bit. The brake lines still need to be replaced. I didn't have a proper brakeline wrench. I'll be going by John's (BigBird's) work and he'll do it with the proper tool. I'm going to call AC about the rear leaf pack. I want to clarify with them whether the extra spring I removed was suppose to be removed or left in somehow. I'm only getting about a 2-2.5" lift in the rear rather than the 3" I thought I was suppose to get.

Once everything is finalized I'll be taking it in for the alignment. So far though, from the little I drove it, the suspension is stiffer than stock, just as I wanted it and there are no driveline vibrations so the supplied shims worked out perfectly. Sorry there are no pictures, our hands were too dirty to handle the camera. You'll just have to see it in person! :teeth:

Glad it went well, Gino. Maybe I'll get to see the thing in August, after my very busy summer.

Sorry I wasn't around to lend a hand, but hey... I was sweating my ass off mowing our lawn, and no one stopped by to help me either

Not a problem Scott. There were plenty of hands to help, anymore and we would have needed another truck to wrench on to keep them all busy. :teeth:

About the lawn mowing event you had. Let us know when the next one is coming and I'll post it up. We love sitting around on someone's patio drinking beer while they sweat it out mowing their lawn.

Not a problem Simon, your spring compressor was there and we couldn't have done it without it. :teeth:

Yes, this was a fun weekend but damn all the heat and sun - I have a complexion of a lobster right now. Gino's lift - very nice. My lift looks pretty cool too, stiffer than stock, no vibrations, and needs alignment. No clue how much height I actually gained, kinda forgot to measure things before we started, but I'll figure it out somehow. :irked:

John, Drew, Serge, Gino, thanks for the help/tools/place/etc...

Okay, almost complete.

I cranked up the front end, gotta love those adjustable coilovers. It's now sitting level with about a 13" clearance from the frame to the ground. About 1.5 inches higher than factory in front, about an inch higher in the rear.

Going to John's shop tomorrow morning to swap out the rear brake lines and I'll get a 4-wheel alignment later in the week.

I'll wheel like this for now and think about getting a 1.5" shackle for the rear and cranking up the front another inch.

I cranked up the front end and when I measured, it ended up being level so I just left it.

I know I had planned to leave a .5" rake but I didn't feel like playing with it to lower it back down. It was getting late. :teeth:
