Fuel Pump Compatibility D21 -> WD22?

Post by Nd4SpdSe »

I know this is a ways away, but I was wondering if the fuel pumps are compatible? Looking at the Walbro kits, and was hoping a high-performance pump would be available for the Xterra, but they only list one for the D21 truck upto 1995. They also have one for the 1998 3.0L Quest.

That's not the pump, that's the sending unit. I don't know if the pump is interchangeable.

According to rock auto parts numbers, the d21 and wd21 do not share the same fuel pump.

It's probably going to be different for every one because the gas tanks are different shapes. At least I think so.

Do the Xterra's share a pump with any other vehicle?

Just wondering, I know my old Mazda I could use a farily standard Walbro pump that was interchangable with many other makes and models and even manufacturers. I could see if the mounting system, sending unit and fuel pickups would be different per vehicle, but was hoping the same pump was used in multiple Nissans and that a performance aftermarket one would work. Like in my Mx-2, I used a GSS342, which was literally plug and play (required slight tweak of the mountnig bracket), but that pump works across Mazdas, Honda and Subarus, and that's just that model because of where the connector and flow direction go.
