If you can't tell where the leak is from try cleaning it off with a engine degreaser and after it dries run it a bit. Hopefully you can then find the leak.

What is the level like?

Hmm....would need to know whether it's leaking from the front, or back, or one of the plugs. As Snafu said, clean it off well, and see where the leak surfaces.

If you can't get the fill plug out, you can always remove the shifter boot, and the shifter itself, and fill through there.

Actually, since the WD21 Pathfinder's fill hole was too low (only allowed for 3.5L of fluid, when the tranny takes 5.1L) I always used to fill my old one that way.
