disaster of a trip

Post by sx_ual »

so i thought i would share. i had to drive to winnipeg in my x about a month ago and ended up demolishing a wheel bearing on the way back witch lead to getting stuck in minisota for 3 days waiting for a new one. anyways, the retard who changed my bearing smashed the plug on the sensor and then put crimp ends and slid them on to the prongs of the sensor . so just before i get back into canada my abs, vdc, slip lights are on and wont go into 4wd at all. I get home and take a look to find this fabulous work all covered in green corrosion from the salt and snow. so i change out the sensor and solder it directly together and that didnt work. so turns out the abs controll module is blown and nissan wants 1500$ for one. does anyone know where to find one used? no local wreckers has an xterra. ive gone to nissan to look at a new titan and the dealership said they would give me what i owe on the x without seeing it. i just put a brand new clutch in last year, new brakes before the trip, new 33' bfg a/t last year with spare, just not sure if im ready to give up on her.

That's what I meant, putting your old ones on if you're doing the trade in. I just put on new 31"s on about a month ago. Some 33"s would be nice though....no I think I blew this years tire budget.

you sure the module is blown... I've never heard of one breaking and not out of the blue like that. Have you tried resetting the computer or plugging in to a code reader? Some readers will identify which line is snapped. I've snapped all 4 abs lines throughout its life, theyve been submerged and shorted without any issues with the module.

Yah I'm pretty sure. Right front does not read at all when scan tool is running diagnosis. The sensor has 2 wires going to it. The one has 12v power and the other is signal, ground is through the wheel bearing itself threw the screw. I have 12v going all the way to the sensor and signal going all the way back to the pin on the plug on the abs pump. Also my tpms light is on witch uses the power wire on the abs sensor for antenna. If it was a sensor or break in the lines then the scan tool will tell you if there is a short or any resistance. It reads nothing.
