Here's a weird one...

Post by Scotto »

So I get out to the truck this morning, and the doors are locked. Which is weird, as I never lock the doors. When I unlocked and opened the door, the locks locked again. I flipped the switch, and it locks. This wouldn't be so annoying if I wasn't also trying to open the rear door to load the laptop and briefcase. I unlock the doors. They lock.

I figure it must be the humidity. But it's weird.

So, then I drive away, flipping the lock switch, and it locks, and then, about 35' from the driveway, the locks decide they have had enough of this game and stay put. Unlocked. Hmmm, I think. If this was humidity, there is no way the switches dried out in a short 35' of driving. So I back up.

And the doors lock. I pull away from the driveway, unlock doors, and.... they stay unlocked. Reverse back to driveway.... And they lock. :wtf?:

WTF is going on with that? What are the odds of some EM interference at the same frequency screwing around with me in the driveway?

Are your hazards flashing as well? If so, your fob may need a new battery and/or the contacts cleaned.

Mine has done that a couple of times, randomly locking.

Don't use the fob - the blue light mod screwed the fob up.

No hazards either, as I recall. Wasn't really paying attention.

Still doesn't explain the distance away from driveway part of this equation....

I'm not going anywhere near my truck until you figure this one out.

It is simple. Jen is cranking you with another working fob :p

What was the blue light mod?

Did you try to see if this still happens further from the house? And where is the fob when this was all happening?

Indeed

You may not use the fob, but if the truck Is setup for one, it can still receive signals to make it do what a fob would do.

Your truck is like a puppy. It doesn't want you to leave in the morning. Stay and play.

If one of the door locks or latches is seizing up and is stuck 1/2 between open/closed (including the hatch) it can cause the door locks to lock/unlock randomly

Well. I think it was humidity. One of the over head lights filled up with water on the drive home from work the night before. And I vacuumed out the snorkel box. Had about a 1/2" of water in it. Hasn't had an issue since. Or maybe the neighbour stopped his EMI project.
