Found Something odd

Post by BigRed44 »

ok so i was preparing for the body lift i am doing and when i removed my battery i found a 120V 3 prong plug stuffed in behind the head light. i followed this back and it melds into main harness. Any ideas what this might be for? i have had the truck since new and never noticed this before.

Block heater? I don't know about 2nd gen, but 1st had it. Wire was going straight to the heater though, not into harness

most trucks sold in Canada have a block heater installed.

Manufacturers make specific vehicles for the Canadian market with usual additions, such as DRL, larger washer fluid reservoirs and block heaters.

Gotta love the stereotype of Canadian winters.

Block heaters come factory installed on Nissan vehicles for at least the last 15 years or more.

10 years ago the heater was factory installed and the cord was installed at pdi.
I heard of some dealers charging customers to install cord, even tho it is included in the pdi.
Since 2002-2004ish, the complete heater and cord started to be installed at the factory.

Add to that where Canada only got the v6 4x4 with LSD, while in the US they had 2WD, open diffs and even a 4cyl (2WD). I guess we needed all that to get though all the deep winter snow!

Buying a 2wd one here would be useless, at least to me.

I'm not sure I'd want the 4 cyl in such a heavy truck though!
