Help Me Purchase Princess Auto Actuators (Sale Ends Feb 15)

I'm not sure where to put this, but I'm looking if anyone can give me a hand.

Currently on sale at Princess Auto are their 12" 12vdc 270lb actuators
http://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/1 ... -p8507840e

I already have one...

They're regular $75, on sale for $50, and I need 3 more. so the sale is definitely worth while, especially since I was going to pick them on my way down to Niagara at the end of the month for March Break at the end of the month (March break being a week earlier in Quebec than in Ontario), but the problem is that they seem never available for online purchase and I'm 3.5+ hours away from the nearest PA. I was honestly going to pick some up on my way down, but of course it means I miss out on the sale that I happen to stumble across.

When I bought mine, they only have 1 in Kingston, but I never checked the other places.

So looking for someone along the 401/QEW corridor who can help me out and that I can pick them up from them along the way down, but considering I may have upto 3 (2 confirmed) passengers, it wouldn't be a long visit. As for the cash, I can send that via Interact E-Mail Transfer (or RBC) right away after so that you're putting it out of pocket until I pick them up, but I wouldn't forward the cash before hand unless you know if they have them in stock, cause they may only have 1, 2, maybe 3, or even none at your neighbourhood Princess Auto. I"ll be coming down the 1st or 2nd of March, depends on what's going on.

If there is any at the Kitchener store, I don't mind heading there tomorrow to snap them up. Then we would just need to get them to you.

They could always exchange hands to someone close at the Beer and Wing night

That was my thinking, this club has NEVER let me down. I am sure If I bomb down there tomorrow and grab them and then we ask for help getting them to you, the results would be amazing.

So any idea if I can help? I literally have nothing to do tomorrow during the day so give me an excuse to go window shopping at PA one of the $100 stores! :teeth:

If there are any at the ottawa store I'll pick them up for you, I can meet you at the 401/416 interchange.

Let me know if that works.

Bender, I wouldn't have a problem with that. If the Wing meet happened between the 2nd and the 7th (including those days) it would be perfect cause I'd make a trip up for the event!

Adam, I couldn't ask you do to that. I'm just asking for a favor from someone as long as it's convinient. I couldn't ask you to make a 200km round trip and burn a half tank of gas to help me save some money; it's not right and not fair for you to spend money for me to save money.

So what where you going to use them for? From a quick look I could use one for a plow lift for my ATV ? instead of the winch to raise and lower the plow? I'm 1/2 hour from 401 in Brockville if you need a relay. My nearest Princess is Kingston (about 1 1/2 hours away).

I may be able to check if Kingston has restocked them.

With that I decided to give them a call this morning to see if and who has them in stock. Apparently they're having issues with their supplier and haven't received their ship. They told me that Mississauga has 6, Hamilton has 4 and Scarborough has 3, and they also told me that each store can actually ship, so I got transfered to Mississauga and I'm waiting on a shipping quote. We'll see if it's per item, but if I understood right (he had an accent) it's $6 shipping, $6 handling and $0.65/lb (2.28lbs each x3). Good information to know, and if its that cheap, I'll definitely go that route and I won't have to inconvinience anyone.

They'll be used to raise the tonneau cover with the rack and RTT on the Frontier trailer project. Each one of these are good for 270lbs each, so one on each corner gives me a lifting capacity of 1080lbs. I expect the complete system to weigh in less than 300lbs so it should give me plenty of power. I won't rely on the actuators on holding the weight. I'll be putting in some square tubing and have in lock in with pins for security

It could work out very well for a plow. For the opposite direction you just reverse the polarity and could be easilly done with a single Double-Pole Double-Throw (DPDT) switch. I doubt your ATV plow weights more than 270lbs to raise it on it's pivot. This actuator fits in perfect for my needs since I need one with a total retracted length of 17 inches. I would of liked more than 12" of stroke, but I'll take what I can get, but if you need shorter or longer for your plow, they have a decent variety from 2" to 24" of stroke.

Doesn't sound like they've been restocked. I bought the last one in Whitby at the begining of January and they were expecting a shipment, With them saying that they're having issues from their supplier, I'm going to say they haven't been restocked yet this year....

Alright guys, they have been ordered from Mississauga to be shipped directly to my parents place in Niagara. For the $19 I can't complain at all. And for future reference, if anyone needs anything, and it's not available on the website, call any PA, and they'll ship from their store!

Thanks for all the offers and help. If I would of known I wouldn't of asked, but I wouldn't of know until I asked. I feel bad after asking that I won't be needing help, but I'm also glad that I don't have to feel bad about inconviniencing anyone.
