Just wondering if anyone in the club has any experience with the Champion Winches as I see Canadian Tire has a deal on a Champion 11,000 lb with a cradle for $499.

One thing you need to really consider with winches, is they could mean the difference between you getting off the trail, or sleeping in your truck overnight in the bush.

There is a bit of a price difference between a $500 champion winch, and an $800 warn winch, however you will most likely not use the winch for 99% of your time on the trail.

You may not run into that "out or sleep" scenario for several years. When you do, how will that winch on your truck hold up?
If you are buried up to your axles in mud, would it be worth $300 to you to get out?

One thing I've learned is to try not to buy the cheapest, but to spend the money wisely.

Should you not be able to go for a Warn winch, there is also the alternative Runva winch, but I don't have any experience with them.

Guy in town has one. The first time he used it to pull me out. The second time he used it, the winch failed....

I've used my Costco Champion a half dozen times. Once when a Warn, maybe only a 8000, couldn't pull me my Champion did.

My Superwinch 8500 is a cheap winch and lasted 5 years of abuse and neglect and pulled anything I needed to pull out, myself and others, mostly others, haha. It's soleniods went first because they're not sealed, but by the time I got do that it was siezed. I had never maintained it so it doesn't help, but honestly, for the price, I'd get another Superwinch, and just wait until it comes on sale for $320

Tried contacting them last year with questions and wanted to buy one. Never heard back so I guess their not too interested in selling anything.

Duncan fell off the map about 2-3 years ago. Not sure if he's still selling or not. You can try his old contact number.
My titan has been running for 5-6 years with no problems.

I have one of these brand new in box that I got last August. I sold the Jeep, so I don't need it anymore. If somebody wants to give me $300 for it (save the tax and no waiting for the sale), I'll donate it to the Wildpix ride.

That sounds like a deal. Not sure if would be strong enough for the X (a little heavier than a wrangler). If it should be good then I will take it!
