Hi all.
After lurking here for a couple of weeks I'm ready to say hello. I was waiting until I actually owned a Nissan truck before posting. And today I picked up a 2002 Xtrerra SE SC.
I've been watching kijiji and auto trader for a couple of months. Comparing and viewing and asking and learning. Put quite a few k's on going to look at trucks that were, to put it politely, somewhat less than advertised. And had a few long distance possibles checked out by friends etc.
I finally decided on this one and made the journey to the sunny south today to bring her home. Nothing like a 485 kilometer drive home to learn about your new purchase,
An '02 with 248k on it so I didn't expect a perfect vehicle but I'm quite pleased with it so far. There is some rust spots to look after, rear gate and roof, (what's up with rust on the roof?). Mechanically the shop did pads and rotors along with $400 of exhaust work. It will need a manifold at some point. But its not too bad yet.
The truck ran super good and I know its only one tankful but I calculated 22mpg. All highway but running 115-120kph until I got north of the crazy zone and then 105 average. Lots with the A/C on as well. So I'm not complaining about the gas!
Looking forward to many years and k's of fun driving with it.
And thanks to the forum for all the info and the manual downloads. And thanks to my buddy Lucas and his fiance Darcy for the advice!
