Re: Can't start on cold morning
Battery is dead. See if you can boost it.
Still has enough life in it to get some lights on, but not enough to crank the motor.

Re: 2" Body Lift weekend?
Without too many issues, and having everything on hand, you can get this done in 4-5 hours... Simon and I did mine in his garage in about 5 hours, and we weren't rushing whatsoever. Even WITH issues, if you are prepared for the things that will likely come up, you should have no problems getting it ...

Re: 2" Body Lift weekend?
On the first Gen X, the middle bolt, and the rear most bolt (on each side) are threaded into captured nuts inside the body, so no access to both sides to cut and replace like the rest of them. If you snap the bolt, you have to cut the floor to get at the nut. The nut is tack welded into the body, so...

Re: Hello everyone. Just bough an Xterra :)
You'll save money without the supercharger... There is a BIT more power, but the hassles that come with the boosted motor aren't worth it.
I've had one since 2005, and although I love it, I've paid hand over fist for having it.

Re: Plate Bumper
As far as winches it will most likely be a smittybilt 8000lb or TJM 9000lb but I probably wont be getting one until later on down the road, maybe in December. For now I'll have to rely on my hi-lift or other members to get me out when I'm in a pinch. I dropped the truck off at the shop Sunday and t...

Re: Oil light came on
I've been doing my own for the last bunch of years, because I had a similar experience at a shop with the Xterra. They put a couple of bottles in, got distracted or something, then I showed up to pick up the truck. Different tech put the oil cap back on, and drove it out of the shop not realizing th...

Re: Plate Bumper
Thanks for the input, I think I've been convinced to stay away from RHF, I'll send HolidayNation a PM. Eric's (Holidaynation) bumper was custom fabbed by Dan @ National in Smiths Falls based on a design that Eric and he had come up with. It is not techincally a plate bumper, but a tube bumper inste...

Otherwise, it's conditional pass city!
Little more expensive at testing time, but if that's acceptable, then it's not that big of a deal.

Re: Official *DEALS* thread
The common understanding is that you want a winch that is capable of handling twice the weight of your truck. 8000lbs is essentially the lowest rating that is commonly recommended for our vehicles. As Adam noted, his truck weighs 3900lbs with him in it. I'm sure mine weighs at least that, and more w...

Monsieur Fortin (Need4spdSE) is running a Superwinch in his front bumper. I'm not sure how many opportunities he's had to actually use it, but he'd be the best to give feedback about it.Snafu wrote:What are those Superwinches like? Do they have a good name?

What did you do to your rig today?
Changed the oil in the truck today. I had to remove the quick drain valve that I had in the truck, because is was draining slower then molasses in January. When I inspected it to figure out what the problem was, I found it full of junk, and this: http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e358/Jayman_777/nul...

Trail Stickers!
I posted this on the CNTC Facebook page, but figured that I would post this here as well, as I thought it was kind of cool.
You can order stickers for the trails that you have done.
