Re: Front Brakes

Thanks Simon! Appreciate anything to help these guys get it back working properly. Will keep you posted IF they tell me what the actual problem with reassembly ended up being.

Re: Front Brakes

HI Guys - 2004 Xterra 4WD automatic > Just had front brake rotors, pads and calipers replaced by a local mechanic. Upon picking it up, the front PASSENGER SIDE freewheel hub (i think) was grinding when we got to about 40km/h in 2wd. Brought it back to be looked at, they did something to it, now the ...

Re: Flashing Airbag Light

No worries man. Hopefully the light stays off! If it is dead, then at least you know how to replace it yourself. I glanced at a few manual sections - but my pdf manual was shared, er, uhm downloaded in parts for some reason ;) Great diagram and I'll certainly save a couple bucks putting a new one i...

Re: Flashing Airbag Light

Unplugged sensor - re-plugged sensor - ignition sequence, key-based reset.... Voila! Light's out.
Three Cheers for Jayman's quick assistance!!!

If it comes back on again I'll order up a new sensor, but, for now, I'll give my visa a break :)

Thanks Man!

Flashing Airbag Light

Hi Guys, I've tried the ignition on/off sequence repeatedly over the past month - toggling diagnostics on / off, but, not resetting. Days after having the vehicle Krowned this year, my airbag light started blinking. The flashing sequence using the ignition key diagnostic mode suggests the front airb...

Re: And the winner is....

I'm on my second set of 31" Geolandar MT+ tires. I chose them for the light weight compared to similar MTs - sidewalls are not as strong as others, but the ride is GREAT, hum is nice and grip is fantastic. Aired-down they are great offroad and on sand as well. I run them year round with no issu...

Re: Which muffler is best?

I have a Magnaflow universal with the stock pipe - It sounds a little louder than stock around town and on the highway, but, towing a trailer - the droning, eee gads the droning - wife thought we needed a new muffler right after I put it on. :)

Re: Exhaust splitting at the seams.

Mine split apart exactly like yours a few weeks ago on our '04 - sounds like you got a great lifespan out of the original... :) Replaced it with a universal stainless magnaflow (muffler only) sounds sweet and should last longer than all the exhaust pipe it's attached to. Out the door for $150 instal...

Probably better off to spring for the factory one if grounding this wire doesn't work...

Re: o2 sensor

Thank you... Can I just use any bolt in that area that area of the engine or is the manifold the superior grounding placement? I was going to go back and get them to drill out the old bolts and replace but I lack the back bone :( and don't want to take advantage considering what they did for us with...

Re: o2 sensor

I saw the code on the scanner B2 Looping or something simliar - I do in fact believe it is an 02 sensor throwing the code. I'm just wondering if it's possible to have it throw a code due to poor grounding via that wire I had mentioned... Or if they (o2 sensors) tend to die at around 115000km and it'...

o2 sensor

Hi Guys, Back in December (under Nissan extended warranty) the engine in our truck was replaced with a brand new one. Upon removal, the bolts on the driver side exhaust manifold that hold the heat shield in place were broken. There is a dangling ground wire on that side bolted to the inner fender we...

2004 X e-test results

I had the X (115000 km) in for its first e-test yesterday... Here’s what I did in preparation: Temporarily replaced factory oiled air filter element with cheapest fram dry filter. Changed oil/filter Filled up with ethanol 2 days earlier On a whim, I over-inflated rear tires (less drag) for the rolli...

Re: @!#$%@#$%^@#$%#

I remember reading that water crossings can rapidly cool of the outer shell of the cat causing damage to the monolith(sp?) inside. I know it doesn't happen often around here, but, you wheel your truck so it could be a possibility... I'm just saying this to ease your mind about all the other possibil...

Re: Torsion bar relationship to steering wheel centering

I did the TBA and the wheel came back close to center. I was able to get 14" under the frame rail behind the front wheels (near the dog-leg bend) with my little 'ole 31s on both sides. It may settle a bit. Very happy there appears to be no damage other than the wheel still being a bit offset. I...

Re: Torsion bar relationship to steering wheel centering

Thanks folks. There is no strange steering element (pulling, shaking, etc.) other than the off-centered steering wheel and the leaning of the truck toward the passenger side. I'll post what I find... Maybe a broken leaf spring - but the sound came from up front and the truck is at least an inch or s...
