Re: Engine temperature on 3.5 Pathy

Thanks! I will try this tomorrow. Well actually I tried it this morning for a few minutes. I took the radiator cap off, started it up, and coolant began to overflow almost instantly. I syphoned the overflow coolant into an empty container. But I only did it for three minutes or so, was not sure how ...

Re: Engine temperature on 3.5 Pathy

Not trying to revive an old thread - I recently discovered the hose from the radiator to the overflow reservoir came off and sprayed coolant all over the driver's lower control arm, etc. I refitted the hose, ziptied (of course), and installed a worm-gear type clamp because I did not want to un/re-in...

Re: Engine temperature on 3.5 Pathy

Noted. I pop the hood up and check the oil/coolant level every other day. I read somewhere that the 3.5L is notorious for burning oil. I will keep an eye on the upper radiator too. Thanks!

Re: Engine temperature on 3.5 Pathy

I replaced the radiator cap with the one from the old 3.3L. I pumped out the excess coolant from the overflow reservoir and refilled the radiator. I went on the highway, did 3000-3500 rpm for 10-15 minutes, and the temperature stayed somewhere between 175 and 195F - it was cold today, about 15C. I p...

Re: Engine temperature on 3.5 Pathy

Thanks, Simon. This morning when I opened the radiator cap to check the fluid, it was pretty much empty! At the same time, the coolant in the coolant reservoir was way past the maximum. I have a feeling the coolant went to the reservoir and did not come back to the radiator. I intend to buy premix c...

Engine temperature on 3.5 Pathy

Hi, Tonight while driving the pathfinder on the highway, I noticed the fluctuation of the engine temperature on the ultra-gauge, plugged to OBD-2, whereas the temperature gauge needle stayed constant. Doing 65 mph (105 km/h at 2750 rpm) or 80 mph (130 km/h at 3250 rpm), regardless of the terrain, th...

Re: P0011 and P0022 on 3.5 Pathy

Thanks, Ron. I have come across your very-detailed, write-up last week on several internet forums. Another guy on NPORA told me the same thing, that the 5-speed has no powervalve screws. But I am under the impression it is more of an engine thing regardless of 5-speed/auto. Any thoughts? Its a 2002 ...

P0011 and P0022 on 3.5 Pathy

Hi, I have just purchased a 2002 Pathfinder SE, 5-speed, 3.5L. Two codes came up today as I was doing 80 mph uphill: P0011 and P0022. I have read the forums about possible causes, such as camshaft position sensors, timing solenoid???, low oil level, dirty oil. Oil level is good and it is clean. What...

Re: Oil Dipstick

They used Permatex gasket makers to seal the pan. If they loosen the pan, chances are they'll have to scrape it clean and put new gasket altogether. I'm gonna try to ask for warranty job since its been six months. If not, I'll change the oil and add 3-7/8 qt., then regular oil change every 5000 km a...

Re: Oil Dipstick

I'll be doing oil change this week... normally I just add 3-7/8 qt as per manual and replace it every 5000 km. Its been six months since the job, not sure if there's still warranty. I'll see what I can do. The shop also told me that if the tip ever broke off, there's a big filter to prevent it from ...

Oil Dipstick

Hi all, This is a copy of what I posted on NPORA. I had a local shop replaced the oil pan back in June and this is on a 3.3L V6 - 2000 Pathfinder. I found out that the oil dipstick is stuck because they did not remove it prior to installing the new oil pan. The dipstick sticks 3" out of the gui...

Re: What ANNOYS you about your Nissan?

Driving a 15 year old X is strange. But yesterday at the beer store a guy said," Wow that truck rocks. That is awesome.". The lack of power. The noise. The seeing of a hill in front (on pavement)and saying f-me. And then some dude in the beer store with a big Ford 250 says, "your tru...

Re: Frozen door lock

Nine months later... It is now the end of September and the weather is in 25-35C. I inserted the physical key into the driver-side and passenger side doors, and its stuck. I couldn't get the key to turn back and forth. I have used a fair amount of deicers this past winter. I figured some components ...

Re: Block Heater/Coolant Heater

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=181284930978 I bought this from ebay today. I think I'm suppose to stick it to the oil pan underneath. I don't have a timer setup, so I'm just gonna plug it in few hours before I leave the house. The pathfinder had a weak start in -24C today. Ne...

Re: Can't start on cold morning

Switched to a new battery, truck came back to life. Thanks for all the helps! Glad to be learning new stuff everytime You should still have your charging system checked. If the alternator is not charging the battery properly you will end up with another dead battery eventually. Will do that. Voltag...
