Re: Spacers vs Coilovers ... or just springs?
 The BL would raise the fenders 2" and allow for bigger tires = more clearance without any change in ride quality. Assuming you have factory wheels (no offset rims or wheel spacers) you should be good for 33"s with a 2" BL, maybe have to trim or remove the front mud flap. A 2...

Re: Spacers vs Coilovers ... or just springs?
How about a body lift? yeaa why not, this might be way easier and cheaper than what your getting into Not sure what this is like on an X but the frontier was easy What I really like about a body lift is that it opened up some extra space to spray all the mud/crap off, there are labyrinths of mud po...

Re: Spacers vs Coilovers ... or just springs?
JAS and FronyFlyer, The 1.75" you refer to, is that the thickness of the spacer of the increased height (of the truck)? Overall increased height is what i was referring too. At 2" of lift this only leavs about 3" of droop available before CBC. Any kind of bump deeper than 3" tha...

Had this of happened in a turn or something and I could have rolled. If you plan to keep it for a while dont buy these. If yo...

Its such a shame. We cant blame the industry here, its the consumers. Little gas sipping grocery getters is the only thing selling now so thats what we get.

Re: 2nd Gen - Direct control over TC shifting
You must have been screwed once or twice to want to figure that out! Good idea, I like the idea of totally overriding everything, but man, there's gotta be an easier way. -Does the little 4WD indicator thing on your dash still flash when its shifting and confirm when it engages? -ABS and ABLS still ...

Re: VDC how nice it was to have you
ahhh that would have saved my ass if i knew that. If that doesnt work... Climb under and take the shift solenoid off the t-case and manually select 4, 4lo ect. All you need is 10mm socket to remove the solenoid and large flat head screwdriver/prybar to rotate the shifter slot on the t-case. It will ...

Re: 2gen frontier on 35s
Yeah it never ends once you start modding these. 4.56's and 35"s works out great with these trucks, you get all the stump pulling power back and some. Truck is committed to those shoes once you swap gears though, no going back to factory size tires. I put my factory tires on for fun once, 6th g...

Re: Gear Swap
Its easy to understand how to install it correctly, but getting there is not so easy. It will take many attempts to get the right pattern, each attempt means total disassembly and reassembly until you find the perfect combo of shims / preload. With the diff opened up, sitting on a bench, its easy to...

Re: 2005 Nissan Frontier soft brakes/and pedal
Only do this as a last resort, its pretty unlikely you will need to adjust the pedal but it can be adjusted. Follow the pedal underneath the dash to where the plunger hooks to the clevis, if you remove the pin you can adjust the pedal to bring it up more. Its very touchy, dont go more than a half tu...

Vk56 is bullet proof, forged crank, 6 bolt main bearings, coated pistons you aren't going to blow it up, ever. Trans/tq converter and rear end... different story.

ouch! Sort of sad but true, but it often takes an incident like this to keep people aware. Hope your buddy is ok, cant imagine how terrible it would be for a mechanic especially to loose the most useful tools in his shop; fingers.

Coolant Flow Direction / E-fan Install
I am trying to find the best location to install a temp probe for an e-fan controller. On every other vehicle I've seen, the heated coolant comes out the top of engine , goes into the top of the rad - cooled - out the bottom of rad back to bottom of engine. Makes sense - heat rises. In this truck (2...

Re: New project - brainstorming time
I kind of making an opinion too, just by looking at them side by side I'd put my money on a non locker, but that does us no good off road. Long story short, ended up buying 2 scrapped M226 axles (e-lock and non locking) to get the parts to rebuild mine. Best possible combo: E-locker housing, Non loc...

Re: New project - brainstorming time
The Diff I would use would be from a Pro-X Titan 2011+ w/E-locker, so no spider gears to worry about breaking, etc.. Somewhere around 2010 they switch from 2 spiders to 4. But I dont think its possible to eliminate them all together and I'd still be worried if you plan on wheeling with bigger tires...

Re: New project - brainstorming time
This will be interesting. I agree the armada is a better starting platform If your going through all the work to SAS the rear consider a dana 60 or you will be downsizing ring gear size slightly with the m226. If you plan to put bigger tires and push the towing limits, I'd recommend beefing up the m...

Body to chasis ground issue maybe?? try grounding the body to the frame with a jumper cable and see if the noise goes away. I had some wierd whine coming through the speakers, it was from a corroded body to frame ground wire.

Frame Rot Prevention
What is the best way to keep a 4wd's frame from rusting apart? Oil based coatings, krown, coat&protect ect. work great on street vehicles but driving in dusty muddy conditions they seem to build up a nasty black grease / dirt coating that holds on to moisture and doesn't rinse off easy. I've bee...
