Re: Xterra Discontinued For 2015
Yup totally agree on the eco-diesel. Why buy half a truck when you can buy a full-size full featured truck with better economy? I still have to wait and see what happens over the next 3 years to see if it really does what they say. From what I'm hearing from owners...I interrogate people at gas-bar...

Re: Toronto-Vancouver and Back
I realize I'm a bit late with this... This couple sold all of their stuff and took off across Canada, up to Alaska and then wandered down to Central and South America. They took their time in parts of Canada, so the early part of the trip report linked below might be of some interest. http://www.exp...

Re: Frame Rot Prevention
The old school Land Rover guys use POR-15 on their frames and bulkheads. It's a two-part brush or spray on metal treatment and sealant. Lots of other products similar to it, as well - Rust Bullet, Masterseries, and others. The hootus thread... http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?threa...

Re: MEC Maps
You are talking about the Tyvek-like topo maps? Yes, very handy for outdoor trips, since they always seem to get wet. You can get any topo area you want in those maps. I have the French River area and Algonquin Park maps, along with a few others. I haven't seen road maps printed on that material, ho...

Replaced a bad front wheel bearing / ABS sensor on my Jeep.
Bought some Poison Spyder diff guards. I;m painting them up and will install them and change fluids later this week or next.

I tried to chase down the owner of this X, but she turned near Cherryhill Mall on Oxford last week. I didn't hear any squeeling or cursing from the driver so maybe that only happens when she's offroading?? http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo330/deekerG4/Off-road%20Pictures/2013-05-17142639_zpsaea9...

Re: Member Spotting
In London, saw an orange X with black rims with the tires sticking out past the fenders ever so slightly. Had what looked to be a couple of small zombie stickers in the back window. I was driving west on Horton towards Springbank... I like orange. And the black rims looked good. That is all. Probab...

They forgot to mention that it makes for a more comfortable, less jarring ride. Our rocky, bumpy trails are much smoother with a lower air pressure.

Re: If you started again, what would you do differently?
I think the original poster is almost asking what mods to do first / make the biggest improvements off-road for the money spent. If that's what I think the question is, my suggestion would first be tires, skids and sliders, a recovery strap and a lift. After that, as your experience builds, you can ...

Not too awesome, just personal preference. I like the look and (quieter, smoother) on-road performance of these tires.

It's the look, not the performance of the tires. I'm a bit redneck, but those tires are pushing it even for me.

Re: Unimog For Sale
I've seen one UniMog on the trails in the Lanark Highlands. Too many trees and tight turns for that thing to do well. Open trails, it's fun to watch. On the tight trails of that area it was a lesson in 3-pt turns and smacking branches off the windshield and a-pillars. Would I want one - heck yeah! C...
