Shackles are fairly easy to install with hand tools and a good jack/stands to support the truck. I'll let someone else comment on the spacers as I don't have a 2nd gen. Pretty much sums it up. I used two jacks (with stands) when installing new leafs, shackles and bushings but I don't think you will...

What would be the best most cost effective way to achieve a 2" lift? Extended shackles. If you touch the leaf pack then you may need new U-bolts as they are (or should be) cut to length one installed. If the new leaf pack (ex. higher arch) is the same thickness then you may get away without ne...

...as for the slow shifting it a wheel speed sensor dependent and if there is any kind of bind in the front driveshaft it won't come out of 4Hi until there isn't any. Hopefully the belt was not broken or skipped some teeth and simply needs replacing with tensioner and whatever else is lurking under there (ex. water pump).
Mayhaps in the olden days they actually used a chain instead of these dumb belts???

Also reverse to confirm the lights come on then put it back into park/neutral and confirm that they go off. It could be a faulty switch when putting it into reverse that is causing the problem. Easiest fix is to pull the bulbs from the light housing and add reverse lighting on a switch...a nice set ...
