Re: Found Something odd
most trucks sold in Canada have a block heater installed.
Manufacturers make specific vehicles for the Canadian market with usual additions, such as DRL, larger washer fluid reservoirs and block heaters.
Gotta love the stereotype of Canadian winters.

The new owner will get a CNTC decal with the truck.
On another note, I found a handful of SOXC and NTC decals when cleaning the truck. Ahhh the memories.

Re: Block Heater/Coolant Heater
***UPDATE*** So I had the truck plugged in last night (battery and block heater), around midnight. This morning, at about 7, it was -25 degrees centigrade. Hopped in the truck looked at the gauges before starting her. Battery was at 12.4VDC, and the coolant was at 10 degrees. She started like a beau...

Re: Block Heater/Coolant Heater
Greetings all. Rather than start a new threat, thought I'd piggy back off my old one. I fished out the block heater plug and mounted it on the grille, got an extension cord, and ready to go for the cold snap about to come. 1.) How long can you leave the block heater plugged in? Can I plug it in over...

Re: Truck mounted battery maintainer
I did consider doing that but had less than favorable experience in the past doing that - running power in reverse through the fuse. I preferred to run it direct to the battery. I now have two plugs in the grille - battery on the passenger side, and block heater on the driver side. Since I reconditi...

Truck mounted battery maintainer
Last week, during the cold snap, before heading to work at 5am, the X was dead! Luckily my wife was still home so I could use the Mini for a boost. When done work, the truck struggled to turn over. The battery is 9 months old and I don't have anything plugged in that stays on. I decided to get...

Re: Oil light came on
all is well with the X now.
I need to check the oil level every 1000km as it seems to be burning oil faster than usual.
As for what happened this time?????

Oil light came on
Just got my oil changed last week, and last night while driving, the oil light came on. Thankfully I was just in front of a gas station and could pull in. The dip stick was dry and ended up putting in 1.5L of oil. The oil pan was clean, no leaks noted. I saw the oil change with my own eyes, so I can...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
I've got a small coolant leak and not so small PS leak -----> so I topped up both reservoirs. So you didn't sell it? It was on Autotrader and Kijiji, had a few great offers, but the purchase of the new house vacuumed all my finances and couldn't buy the new one. I wanted to pay more than 50% and fi...

I used the Canadian Tire Red Tek system a few years back and it worked great for the one summer season; turned my AC from mehhh to freezer cold. The next season, the AC was again, mehhhh, used another can, was cold for one day then it became warm. Took a black light under the hood and the entire eng...

My truck has been in a state of "Not Ready" for the last few months (October). I've had lots of work done to address these issues, but till yesterday, no change. Then the stars, moons and planets aligned yesterday afternoon As I was driving home, my status changed to Ready. As chance would...
