Re: Should I undercoat?

Krown, Rust Check, etc. Never a "no drip" product, it needs to flow and drip to cover and work.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Give your wires a check for the green death. Spent the last few weekends excising it from the tow rig. Wireing harness and fuse box are both suffering. I'm starting to notice symptoms of the same on my Cummins and it's only a '12. So far I'm not impressed with the quality of Chrysler/Dodge/FCA prod...

Note - My Hero 2 doesn't like the cold. Battery life is about 30% of normal when on a sled at XXX kph.

Re: GoPro Experts

Use the app or the screen on the camera to align the camera and then turn all that off to conserve the battery. The apps are probably good for shooting photos and multiple short videos but I wouldn't use them for running trails, or other longer shots. I use the suction cup mount (with a tether), hel...

Re: Finding more trail leaders

I'd suggest Weakest Link if you can't find an appropriate filed/pit/quarry. Its short enough to walk it and run it over and over, and there's no trail just a string of obstacles. It could also be done at South Wind in the mud pit and on Razer.

Re: Finding more trail leaders

I guess I fall into the first group. Our needs and how we spend our time has changed so our once capable off-road truck has been replaced by heavy hauler and mall crawler....and I have no plans to wheel it. On trails I preferred to be at the front or the back. I'd encourage a number of the members h...

Re: Undercoating? Oil spraying?

Get it sprayed if you care about it. And you have to do it every year, otherwise there is no point. If someone tells you they do it every other year, don't listen to what they say anymore. I know a number of people who alternate years. However none of them keep their vehicles over 10 years. What ma...

Re: Undercoating? Oil spraying?

I didn't spray my 05 Titan because I liked being able to work on it without being coated in oil and filth. I didn't keep my 05 Titan as long as I could have, I didn't sell it to board member, and I had to pay to have rust spots fixed because I didn't spray my 05 Titan. My current truck has been spra...

But have you checked the fluid level? 200,000km on my Titan and that light only came on for two reasons, failed front wheel bearings (once) and low brake fluid caused by worn pads (multiple times).

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Nice. I was thinking Gooderham, Picard and the general fire access roads type trails. Wouldn't have thought it could handle weakest link, I've only walked that trail as it's tight.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Traded it. We traded the '05 XC90 on a '16 Cherokee Trailhawk. My bride is happy to have a new SUV, and although it as not as luxury oriented as a Volvo the capabilities and comforts are quite good. I don't know if the Trailhawk is capabile enough to make "Rig" status, but I can see us exp...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

There's probably a number of vehicles that are significantly underrated by the manufacturer. It could be to keep them in or out specific classes of vehicles, marketing reasons, or frankly that they didn't think that the market needed the capability. The Xterra could have been one of those vehicles.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Agreed, and more worrying is how often I see a vehicle pushing the GVWR limit and then having a trailer added to it. I've seen too many RAM 1500 Crew Cabs with 800 lbs of passengers and a bed full of gear towing trailers. Most of these trucks have a 900 - 1100 lbs payload and they exceeded that befo...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Your LJ weighs 2,950 kg (6,500 lbs)! No wonder modified Jeeps are so hard on u-joints and suspension bits. This is part of the reason we moved to a 3/4-ton truck, which could have been a one-ton if I had found one. Unfortunately with the 3/4-ton we have have the suspension, solid axles, 35s, ground ...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Along the way, I figured it was time to get it weighed, to stopped at a scale station that was en route. Truck with trailer: http://i.imgur.com/Ge42Dgl.jpg Just the truck: http://i.imgur.com/GOJ1n8H.jpg Which calculates the trailer at 1100kg, or 2560lbs Trailer setup with the X always looks good. N...
