Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Working on a front receiver for the X. A bit quick and dirty, but doesn't need to be fancy.

Re: Should I undercoat?

My dad actually believes it works. Lmao. I pulled one off a Frontier at the junkyard and it was all rusted (the truck)... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Would be even funnier if it was the box that was rusted. Buddy worked at a Mazda dealership in Whitby area. It actually rusted around the moun...

Re: Powerless Door Locks

SECU sits under the dash on the drivers side, to the left side, and is a white box. You can find them for cheap. I blew out the rear defrost circuit on mine and replaced it a few years ago (it didn't like triggering a relay for my heated mirrors apparently). So if I can find it, I can send you it if...

Re: GoPro Experts

I did this mod, but made a small slit and squeezed it through the door of the waterproof case http://www.instructables.com/id/Modify-a-Mini-B-USB-Cable-to-Power-an-Enclosed-GoP/ I should see about a better mod. The mini USB cables don't last too long, they're too fragile, but this is the exact setup...

Re: 2000 Xterra - No Start Condition

I should note that there was a 10hp bump from the 00-01 to the 02-04's, not sure if the timing was part of that extra gain.

Re: GoPro Experts

Class 10 cards are required. I heard of issues using non-approved cards, so I stick with Sandisk Extreme. It's normal that Windows doesn't see it correctly, but the software does. I have used the suction cup outside, but I have a backup string attached to and to a point on the truck it just in case ...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Lol I don't, but after it's all said and done, I may be the one to bring the trailer to their parents place to store it for the winter. It's currently accessible only by AWD vehicles because of the snow, so to tow a trailer, a real 4x4 will probably be needed, and I'd rather have a winch then not.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Sunday the truck got it's 2nd battery back with a new yellow top. I also replaced the broken winch with the Tundra Tested 10k that was on sale at CT last week. My roof basket is 90% done, but is getting painted this week for use on the weekend. I also changed the gearbox fluid and tightened up the b...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Talking about weight and mods, here's a damn good article https://www.overlandbound.com/daily-driver-overland-rig/ We are vastly exceeding the original gross vehicle weights spec’d by the manufacturers. My vehicle for example comes in at a whopping 6600 lbs fully fueled. The original vehicle ranged ...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Oh indeed. I want to get that done before taking it to AW...I want to test it on Hydroline! It's just kinda expensive since I'm going to use the hydraulic brakes, but that's part of the plan for next year. She does brake well, but I did heat up the brakes on a very long hill in Cape Breton. I also h...

In the end, it just gives me more appreciation for the X. I would of never wondered by the way she drives she was overweight. I know the gen1 SC gets knocked on, but she works well.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

HEY, I CAN VISIT AGAIN FROM WORK!!! YAY!!!! 1160lb actually. I forgot the 60lbs while typing, but I had calculated it right the other day....andthere's an extra 10lbs on the scale that's irrelevant...unless I'm dragging a dead racoon behind me on a 20ft rope. Indeed some of the next parts of the bui...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

On Friday I pinned up the trailer for the last time to bring her to get stored for the winter http://i.imgur.com/1rZhjCx.jpg Along the way, I figured it was time to get it weighed, to stopped at a scale station that was en route. Re: Sealed alternators

GM had a few liquid cooled alternator options. They don't look too bad for price either.

Adam, you can get new gap guards for a BL from 4x4parts

Indeed, the RR alternator is damn expensive.

I don't remember there being a hose, but it was rusted and in pretty bad shape. I was worried it was rusted in but came out easilly.
