Alberta Bound!

Post by rcafcoburn »

I'll be leaving Ontario next week for a few years at least... not by choice, but for work.
On the brightside, roadtrip!

I'm leaving from Angus, ON on the 23rd around 8 am, and taking 7 days to get to Cold Lake, AB. Anywhere you suggest I stop? Sights, food, souvenirs? Meetups for coffee maybe?!

Day 1: Angus - Sudbury - Sault Ste Marie

Day 2: Sault Ste Marie - White River - Thunder Bay

Day 3: Thunder Bay - Dryden - Kenora

Day 4: Kenora - Winnipeg - Brandon

Day 5: Brandon - Regina - Moose Jaw

Day 6: Moose Jaw - Saskatoon - Lloydminster

Day 7: Lloydminster - Cold Lake

Looks like you have your distance per day planned out reasonably. Make sure to fuel up often, from Parry Sound to Winnipeg you should essentially never pass a station without topping up.

I'd probably stop for lunch in Sudbury, there's a surprising number of excellent restaurants there. Buzzy Browns would be my pick on a road trip. It's by no means the best resturant there, but its a good filling lunch.

Definitely Snafu! CNTC overland trip, maybe? :P

Yeah, each stop is about 3-4 hours driving, and never over 400kms. We'll be stopping for gas/food. For the longer stretches, I'll be bringing a 20L can of fuel just in case. After Winnipeg, the days get a little shorter, so it won't be so worrisome.

I'm hoping the Bullydog I ordered helps my mileage a bit too.

Good luck with your trip and few years. I think you can get to Winipeg from Thunder bay in 8 hours.

Yeah give or take, but with the fantastic mileage of my Xterra, I gotta stop at least every 400 kilometers lol.
Plus my dog is coming, so he needs time to stretch his legs and relax a little bit too.

Oh god , your not gonna have any room in the truck with your dog :P you might get better mileage if you ride your dog instead :P

i got 550 on a tank hwy , when i went to angus thats what i got , but every 400km is a good marker to stop at

I posted here, but it didn't save it... hmm.

Good to hear I should be getting 550ish highway. As long as it's not sucking fumes when I pull into town I'm happy lol.
Hendrix isn't too fond of being ridden, he's too lazy.
