2002 Nissan Xterra - First Nissan

Post by Vleeming »

Hi All

Saw this page and thought why not see what is up. I purchased my 2002 Nissan Xterra about 6 months ago, with 150,000 kms on it understanding that the timing belt needed changing, but nothing more would need to be done. That said the timing belt has been changed and after purchasing and trying to safety it, we noticed a few other area's were rusted out and needed repair. First the radiator mount and second the metal bumper. Luckily I had a good friend who has a welder and we made quick work of the rad mount and the bumper I purchased new.

Other modifications (previous owner) flat black powder coated Pathfinder rims.

All and all so far other than gas mileage I love driving this cool little off-road vehicle.

Welcome to the club!

Unfortunately the rotted radiator support is a common issue on the 1st gen's, but it's a fairly easy repair if you have the right equipment.

Agreed, many people wouldn't be able to go the route I did, as we made it work with some steel bar and welding, but correct not too tough of a fix.
