Vibrating qx4

Post by Evank »

Hey. I have a 2002 Infiniti qx4. I have put a lift kit in from 4x4 parts .com. Unfortunately instead of it being level it’s raked but driveline degrees are perfect. I have had 2 alignment done, 3 wheel balaning done, new bearings, new camber bolts, driveline balanced and yet I still get bad vibrations from 105-115km/hr I can’t get the tires to sit true. Any ideas?

Balance Beads - https://www.counteractbalancing.com/

105-115 makes me suspect tires, any abnormal wear?

My truck was smooth until we replaced the front ball-joints. The old ball-joints caused the typical uneven inside scalloping wear, but you couldn't feel it because the joints were loose.

It would be interesting to try a different set of tires. If no change, I would second guess the driveshaft angles assuming this issue only arose after the lift. You could also seek input on NPORA.

When I had my R50 I found that there was quite a bit of vibration from the front.
One thing that really helped for me was switching to manual Warn hubs to release the front drivetrain when 4x4 is not in use.

You can test this before spending the money on the manual hubs by just removing the drive flanges from the end of the axles. I think, if I remember correctly you can remove them without even taking off the tires.

Once you take them off, the front axle shafts will no longer spin while you're driving. It also has the added bonus of increasing fuel economy.

x2 on balancing beads for the tires too.

Did you do driveshaft ujoints? I've seen where a previously perfectly good joint starts to cause vibration after a lift due to being asked to run at a new angle.
