Rear window regulator parts supply

Post by rtw_travel »

Does anyone have ideas for where to get rear window regulators for a 2002 Xterra? I need both left and right. Canadian tire only has the left one. NAPA and the other local parts supply cannot get them. THe local wrecker thought he could get them through his distribution network, but it turned out they were broken too.

Both mine are broken, and apparently they are required to work for a safety check. THe whole mechanism is fine, its just the white nylon piece that has the cable going through it and holds the spring that has broken. The motors are fine.

Well that was easy... and inexpensive. They are supposed to arrive next week from Rockauto. Thanks for the tip

Yes - ordered on thursday, arrived on tuesday at the cottage north of kingston. That was shockingly fast.

It was very simple to swap the regulators over. You just need a philips screwdriver and 10mm socket. It takes about half an hour each. There is not an exact youtube video for the xterra, but some are close enough that you can wing it. This one for the pathfinder is pretty good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EF9mChod43E

I bet most Xterra's of the 2002 +/- vintage have a similar problem. The plastic/nylon piece that holds the cable in place on the metal regulator frame broke. The same plastic piece on both rear regulators were broken in exactly the same spot.

The motors were fine, so I just bought the regulator. It was this one, plus the mirror image one for the other side. They fit and worked perfectly.
