Rear washer fluid nozzle prob

Post by Bohead »

So went up north for a fun romp in the snow and a couple days of boarding....got covered in mud and salt. Turned on the rear wiper and the rear washer fluid wasn't spraying. Front nozzles work so there's fluid, but I don't even hear a pump kicking in. Where is it located? easy to access the rear nozzle if I have to replace it?

Try filling up the washer fluid reservoir first then try. I am not really sure cause I have a frontier and don't need no stinkin rear window washer :P: but if it is anything like my Subaru wagon there are two pumps. The second is for the rear window. This second pump takes fluid from a higher point in the reservoir. I think this happens so you have a small reserve left for the front window in case you run low.

See if that works and let us know.

I am with Snafu on this. When the washer fluid light comes on it shuts off the right to pump fluid to the rear. This makes sense as seeing where you were isn't as important as seeing where you are going!

If not swap the connections of the two pumps and determine if the pump is shot ( if Nissan made them the same? ). If the front is working then I can't see it being a fuse problem.

Washer resevoir is full. That was the first thing I checked. I'll try swapping the pumps and see if that solves the problem.

I had this problem last year.

If you can, park it inside for a bit, with some heat on. Mine was due to a frozen line. I guess some summer fluid was in the line, and iced up.

After an hour indoors, the rear jet was working again.

Sorry to thread jack but I have an issue with mine where i have to hold the wash button forever to get any fluid to come out of the rear nozzle...I can hear the pump going, and I can hear it gurgling through the line, but it never keeps it's pressure...

Mine hasn't worked for a long time - I figure it's dirt and grime in the line, so I just stopped using it.

I can't see out the back anyway due to the big stoopid tire bolted to the back swing arm. Actually, that's a lie. I oriented the wheel such that I can see out one of the holes in the rim to see tailgaters.

Theres a rear window wiper? :teeth: I will have to check to see if the washer fluid actually works back there. I just wait till its wet then throw the wiper. Have you had the side molding off the drivers side of the windshield(inside)? I believe the hose runs through there and can get pinched. Of course if there is no pump running that would be a minor problem :)
