2002 Climate control - fan stuck on high, module failure

Post by Bow_Tied »

Ok, I have searched the net a bit and found that the control amp module assy is blown. In reading other peoples' fixes, some are replacing just this part and others are replacing this part plus the fan blower assembly Image (pic stolen from NPORA)
as per the nissan service bulletin.

Are some people just getting lucky replacing the module and are on borrowed time till one of these fail again or is the nissan service bulletin just playing it safe and indicating to replace both to avoid repeat service visits/warranty claims?

I plan to also replace the cabin filter if I have them as I found coments that if this filter is plugged it is likey the cause of the module failure.

Any input appreciated.

I just replaced the module from nissan. They issued a revised module. So apparently the original design was at fault though they won't admit enough guilt to give a replacement ;)

So perhaps I am on borrowed time but so far all is doing well.

Is that the same module that makes the A/C stay/turn on even when it's not selected?

I didn't see the pic until now and wonder if this is the same module (looks different). The module I replaced allows the fan speed to run at speeds other than full blast. Is this the same one?

I replaced this module about 2+ years back.

There are two systems - for standard HVAC there is a blower motor resistor. The pics above are NOT for that system ut rather the Auto A/C or automatic climate controls. I believe the motor is a variable speed motor. For this system the symptom of the failed module is that the motor stays on full blast regardless of what you do to the controls, even turning it off - the blower keeps on full until the engine is shut off.

GAA!

I just priced this stuff from teh stealership:
just the module, $198+tx
kit, module + fan, $276+tx
cabin air filter, $46+tx

If I get only the module and filter it would be $244+tx or kit plus filter @ $322+tx! (still not sure which way to go either)

I know I can get better prices including shipping stateside, but would prefer a local source - any suggestions??? Anyone have an account at a dealership? (I'd owe ya big time or we can work a deal maybe for hoist use er something)

PM Morpheus. He's the service advisor at North End Nissan. He can probably get you a bit of a deal on the stuff.

Isn't it the same fix for the pathfinder as for the xterra (same symptom anyway)

Fan Resistor $35.76 27150-2M160 (part # for the xterra fix)

It's totally different with the Auto Climate controls.

I PMd Morpheus on Monday, but he must be away or busy with his family.

I need to get this fixed...anyone else have a lead where I can get these parts cheaper, it would be very much appreciated.
