Throttle Body
Had my rad flushed today. It went well except, the mechanic said to keep a eye on the throttle body because it looks like there has been a little green fluid leaking. He said there is a little plastic piece that expands and contracts in there so it leaks a little at a time until it just goes spewing. The thing is,he said it's around $600 to fix it.Not sure for the part or whole job. Anybody herd of this. Please enlighten me.

Re: Throttle Body
As far as I know it would be is that on my old Mazda, on the throttle body there's the IAT sensor. It has coolant lines running through the throttle body that melts a thermal wax. As the wax melts, it adjusts your idle speed because the engine is warning up, but for a warmed up engine. Kinda neat, not sure if that's how it works, but probably. One thing that guys actually do for extra (theoritical) performance is to bypass it so that the throttle body doesn't get warmed up, thus warming up the air passing through. They do it for the Mx-3 and I'm pretty sure the Rx-8 guys do it too. It's a possibly bypass-fix for you too.

Re: Throttle Body
I seem to recall a problem of leaking coolant around the throttle body on some 1st-gen Xterras. Guys would post pics of some crusty matter and some other dude would tell them it's coolant. So, you're not on your own when it has come to this little problem. My recollection on the matter is that most guys just left it, as it was a little leak and rather common, and no one's truck was suddenly blowing up from the problem.
But the fix?
(I did a google and while editing my post those two other chaps stomped all over the board...)
It's a thermo-wax ring on the throttle body. It's a challenging process to do, and one that is worth having Nissan do.

Re: Throttle Body
There is a part there that gets replaced, and I can't remember the cost, but it was a lot less than $600 if I'm not mistaken.
Basically, it was pretty much plug and play.

Re: Throttle Body
It's the thermo wax kit.
The only solution is to replace it if it's leaking bad enough.

Re: Throttle Body
Mine's been weeping since I got the truck in 2005. Never bothered me much, but I keep my eye on it...
