Personally, with no siping, I'd avoid them.
I remember Drew running them - but he drives about 10 mins to work, and then back. In Toronto. Not much to go on with that. And, like you, I'd be very hesitant - or happy with a death-wish - to run them up here where it actually snows.
I did run my Dayton Timberline MT's (Almost the same tire as the Destination MT's) for a day or so in the winter, and they were horrible. I'd stick with your previous inclination to use the winters.

I have the Dayton Timberline Mt's as well. My recommendation, remove them in winter!!!

Got some 1.5" Spidertrax wheel spacers from NSOR, the back spacing on the Legos is pretty lean. Also picked-up a silver 1995 R33 Skyline GTS-T w/18,500 orig kms (completely stock JDM) from Rightdrive.ca, kinda fun ride.

Cool. So when are you gonna rip the engine out of it and put it in the pathy? :teeth:

Lol - there are alot of compatible WD21 parts; OEM cassette deck apears to be same. Couple of Turbo Pathys on NPORA, not sure if anyone has done a R33-RB25DET engine swap.

Yeah, that would be great rather than trying to refit the original. We can do a parts swap, if there's anything in the garage that you're keen on. All the best.

Rev had gotten Destination Mts, not sure if he ran them in the winter.
The X officially has a working dual-battery system. Finally had a warm enough day on the weekend were I had enough dexterity to run the trigger wire for the solenoid. The ground is just tied to ground terminal on the battery temporarilly since I was running out of warmth moreso than sunlight, but tomorrow is suppose to be significantly nicer.

What do you have? I won't be able to make any drives in the next few days but maybe this or next week I could.

Changed the oil and put the snow tires on my wife's pathfinder today. While I was at it I serviced the front calipers. I also cleaned out the fender/cowl pockets. Think I'll make a new post about that.

They are fine in Toronto, but not in Midland. Got snow tires all around last winter.

Hey there Buddy - where you been?

Put "new" ProComp 33" winter spec ATs on the X today. Wow. What a smooth ride. I actually have to brake now when approaching a stop sign. Truxus would just sort of let me stop. And no vibration. I think I can pull about three gazzillion more kms out of a tank with these babies.

I say "new" on the ProComps cause they were Jeep winter tires, when my dad borrowed the Jeep, and they probably have all of a thousand kms on them. But about 4 years old.

Truxus POS is going on the Jeep.

For the first time the truck let me down today. Everyday it has gotten me home and to work, or anywhere else I needed to be. For the last while she has been harder starting then she should be, lethargic cranking for the first few seconds, enough to tell me I needed to look into it. Parked her last night after a good day out and this morning she wouldn't start. She tried to crank for the first few seconds and then nothing. When you turn the key to start you can hear the starter relay click but nothing else, no sound from the starter solenoid or the starter motor, no draw down on the voltmeter. The voltmeter, my multimeter and my battery charger all show the battery fully charged and at 13.1V. So today she let me down.

Tomorrow I found out why.

Even a bad battery can sometimes show good voltage, but not have enough amps available to start the truck. Other than that, try checking that your connections at the battery and starter are clean and tight.

Checked the connections at the battery, cleaned them anyway and reassmbled...no effect. I'll try boosting her in the morning to rule the battery out.

Any ideas on how to access the starter without removing the intake manifold...Nissan thought it was a good idea to mount the starter underneath it?

Well of course they did... They did that on purpose because they didn't want people to be able to steal it easily. DUH...

This is probably not the case but I'll mention it anyway just because I feel like a post count for the day. :teeth:

Not sure what the temps have been in Kingston, but I know that while I was in Northern Alberta, when it got cold, If you were just driving your vehicle around town a lot on short trips, and a lot of stopping and starting without any length of time for the alty to charge the battery, they'd drain fairly quickly and then become sulfated and no longer hold a charge. Obviously this happens in the winter because the battery potential is severely reduced in cold weather but I'm sure you know that already. Just a thought in case you've been making a lot of short trips or whatever.

Well the weather is retched here so removing the intake manifold outside was out of the question. CAA paid for the wrecker to take her to Kingston Nissan, replacing the starter is $145 in labour, and they were fine with installing the $244 champion starter from parts source instead of there $440 OEM. It didn't feel good to see her leave that way but I have too many things to deal with right now to spend hours under the hood in the cold and wet.

Picked up the valve gasket today, and decided to put it in after work while the temps were still above zero - since it's going to be -12 tonight, and carry on being rather frigid. Funky looking gasket. Never seen one quite like that before.

The old one was quite brittle on the bottom side (toward exhaust), but not the top, and had two cracks in it. No more oil leak. Cab smells better now, even with me in it...
