Today I spent big bucks on the truck. Bought new wiper blades.

The cheapest ones CT had. I've bought the expensive ones before and I find they last just as long (about 6 months for me).

Rotated the tires without breaking a nail...

Lost one of my cowl covers on the highway, but I installed a new deck today after the free sony I threw in there died.

Replaced another brake caliper, drove it for a day, top up the fuel and parked it. She sits at least six days a week these days.

Lol, sounds like my Xterra lately... With the price of gas, and having a second vehicle, my Xterra has not seen much attention lately either...Miner wrote:Replaced another brake caliper, drove it for a day, top up the fuel and parked it. She sits at least six days a week these days.

Bought a Yakima Roof basket and installed it, and new brake pads and rotors for the rear both sides and starting those.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Changed the oil last weekend. Used a Fram oil filter because I was too lazy to drive to Napa. Regretting it already.
Can I swap oil filters without draining all the fresh synthetic oil I put in? Noob question I know, but I've never tried to swap a filter without draining the oil first so have no idea what would happen. I'm assuming the majority of the oil is sitting in the pan and I'll have to top it back up after losing the oil that was in the filter?

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
When I used to do 10k oil changes on my old pathfinder, I would change the filter at 5k. I had to top it up a bit but not very much. Like less than 1/2 a liter.
The reason I did this is because I ran the cheap CT motomaster filters, as they never had any of the better options in stock, and I wasn't going to drive all over to find a filter. While I was in florida I bought 10 Bosch distance plus filters at a really good price. Good for a while now haha.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
I'm getting about a half second of noise on cold starup in the morning. It happened the first time I used a Fram filter on my DIY oil change. The last two oil changes after some reading I used a Napa Gold. Only once or twice I got the noise and when I did it wasn't as loud and went away very quickly. I kinda forgot about that and didn't want to drive across town then back again so just got the fram while I was at the store getting oil. 2 mornings in a row now the noise has returned.
Mind you I did switch oils too because it was on sale. That could be it too I suppose. Why the hell did I have to mess with a good thing?

I'm gonna do the same thing minus the oil change today. Lock the hubs and off we go! Hopefully nothing breaks...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Two steps forward, two steps back....can't get ahead. Was under the truck spraying nuts and bolts, to prepare for the ILB install, and other front end components, and this is what I found. Sway bar attachment points on the lower a arms, are cracked! Gahhh, it never ends....
