Re: horn beeps every so offten
do you think it could be the main battery or the transponder battery? Would it hurt if I took the main battery out and put it on a charge?

That should be ok.ptbo_hunter wrote: Would it hurt if I took the main battery out and put it on a charge?
Do you have a volt meter? Battery should be about 12.7 volts truck off, about 14 running.

the truck off is 12.5 and on is 14.6. Do you think it could be the transponder?

Have not had this problem.
Is this a factory alarm? How often does it beep? Take the battery out of the fob(s) and see if it still does it maybe.

Could a neighbours car fob be the same frequency. That would be funny.

I think the truck does too, but I haven't really paid attention to it since I'm used to it because my Mx-3 and my sister's Prelude aftermarket alarm (truck has an aftermarket one too) used to keep after several hours. Was almost a set time too. I used come come home from work around 6, and at around 11pm every night, my car would chirp. Would be funny to have the car coincidentally chirp people were walking beside it, especially when they cut through the lawn.

Re: horn beeps every so offten
Alas, I have heard of this issue, or one quite similar.
In my truck (2000 X) I had to get rid of the fob thing. There was some sort of short between the alarm and the fob causing the 4-ways to randomly turn on, and on occasion the horn would activate (although quite rarely). The issue seemed to be the fob - not the battery in the fob being run down. Now mind you, the previous owner of my truck had done some funky stuff, including replacing the little flashing red interior alarm light with a little flashing blue light, which burned out the main computer. So maybe the fob isn't the issue, but...
Is the fob always within range of the truck when the horn blips? (I understand that this is a tricky question to answer, for if you are out range of the truck, chances are you wouldn't hear the horn beep if it did....My fob had a range of about 5 feet, on a good day, so it was fairly easy for me to determine the fault)
Or you might try setting the horn to not beep when using the fob. Directions for doing this, I believe, are on the back of the fob.
My bet is a fob acting up.
