I hear you.Bow_Tied wrote:200k is lot for someone with 2 kids and no time to work on it! :/
Swapped snows for summers on my mom's Malibu, and our XC90 and V70.
Started on the u-joint, rotors, pads, brake-lines and some extras on the Titan. The bleeder screws are seized on the two remaining original callipers, both left side, so the order went in to Napa today. Reman's for ~$130 each is easier than dealing with tapping out the old bleeders and with over 200k the originals were questionable to begin with.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
You picked the easy route, smart. I would messed with for 6 hours then gave up and ordered the parts lol. I am leery of using heat on bleeders unless the line is off - and at that point you might as well put new ones on.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
I messed with callipers for hours, and on multiple times, when I was dealing with dragging brakes a couple years ago. Never again, re-manufactured callipers are cheap, time is precious and a sticking calliper will destroy your new pads quicker than you would imagine.
I didn't try heat on the bleeders, I did on the line fittings but only with a bucket of water at my side and the calliper disconnected.

Got a coolant flush yesterday at Milton Nissan. Thanks Mike! The heat coming out the vents is nice and hot, just in time for Winter II
There's a Simpson's quote for that.

Not today but on the weekend had a former member help me change a leaking frost plug. Went smoother than I thought it would, engine block looks brand new on the inside.
Last night after studying I was bored and cleaned up all the under hood grounds with wire brush.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Snorkel is finished being painted. The clear is drying, and maybe she'll get installed next weekend...we'll see if I have time (or the guts) but she's essentially ready.
Volant on the piping side was modified for nmy 2" BL and made water tight (as opposed to the crappy cheap gasket they supplied) using a steel roof vent pipe gasket. fits and works well I think. Finished that up on the weekend. I just need to watertight the cover next.
Working on a fiberglass Volant-to-Snorkel adapter. It's coming along great but it's a slow process waiting for the FG to cure to keep working on it. I make the form Saturday and grinded the extras, imperfections and the proper shape, which made some holes in some of the thin sections, so I patched them up with some more layers and let it dry, with again more shaving the unneeded material. There's one small thin section and another hole to patch, but she's turning out great. it's just that I made the Volant part of the adapter too small, so I need to grind out the inside, and might have to add more to the outside to give me the diameter I need in the end. Not sure if I want/need to paint it directly, or put on a coat of Bondo to clean it up and seal/prime it before painting. It's teadious but fun to play with fiberglass again.

Woo LED lights!
Stupidly, it seems my camera hasn't been saving some of my pics on the weekend. I know I took some pics that aren't on the memory card, so I don't have the latest pics after I re-fiberglassed it to work on filling holes and the shape.
Here's it off the wood mold and after grinding it down to get the excess off and the proper shape.
And last pics on hand is when she's back in for round 2
And my modified Volant. Again I took pics after I added some bolts and some more sealant, but those pics didn't save...so this is what I've got.

Replaced the rear brake pads today.
Does anyone else find that sometimes brake pads fit a bit too tight and you need to remove a hair of material so they sit nicely in the caliper bracket? Last couple of sets I have needed to shave a titch. I expect that from white box stuff, but not from Wagner.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Yep, had to file a bit off of the wagner ones I put on the rear of mine in the fall. I got the semi-metallic thermo quiets.
I will note the first set of pads I put back there, had no issues at all, they were the nascar advantage from CT (raybestos pads).

I think I am done buying parts source brake parts. Next ones will be OE I think. I thought I would cheap out this time since it was the rears.

I got mine on rockauto on clearance for like 10 dollars so I can't complain. But I hear you. I am going to get the hawk HPS pads for mine next time it needs a set.

No love for the Xterra this weekend, the Rx8 came out of winter storage
HID kit came in for the truck on Friday, so would like to starting to attempt the installation of that this week, but she's suppose to go back into Precision Custom this week, or next, for a few days for readjustment of the brush guard and rear bumper and use my truck to take more measurements for a production version of the bumper.; I'll need to confirm that with them tonight. Once the bumper is done and no longer it has an erection, I'll be wanting to start work on a prototype concept of my hitch spare tire carrier

Got the trailer ready for camping - repacked the wheel bearings, checked the tires/spare, inventory check etc. Still need a few little things to be ready for this weekend. Anyone else in camping prep mode?

Trailer is out, lines flushed, batteries charging, interior cleaned. Still need to wash and wax, treat the roof, stock the fridge...
The truck is a different story. Spent a good part of the night pulling the rear bumper back into position, along with the edge of the quarter panel. It would appear my doubts of my step daughter's driving skills are well founded as I'm unsure how much damage she did to her Maxima backing into my truck but suspect it is more than just a taillight, given the damage to the truck.

Ouch. The only damage I recall doing to my dad's cars were I hit a deer once. (may have been more luck than management )Miner wrote: The truck is a different story. Re: What did you do to your rig today?
My MTRs got balancing beads put in this week, but haven't had the chance to swap over the tires yet. Oil change on the car and the truck, and bolted up the snorkel properly, and make a makeshift bracket for the top to it stops vibrating in the wind; I'll make up a prettier one once I have the time and the tools, need a vice to bend it properly. Also found out I'm running an NA rad on my SC truck....

Is the rad supposed to be plumbed to the S/C system or does the S/C rad have more rows?
