I spoke to a supplier of mean green. They are no more waterproof than a factory unit, just higher amps.buttsy wrote:Mean Green
Spoke to an alternator rebuilder that also does marine products. No parts make a alternator waterproof or resistant.
In the end I went with what I thought was the best quality parts inside. OEM

For Rod's alternators (when he did it) it was for the marine alternators the brushes are suppose to be sealed against water, but that's about it.... I still managed to get mud in mineMorpheus wrote:I spoke to a supplier of mean green. They are no more waterproof than a factory unit, just higher amps.buttsy wrote:Mean Green

If I remember correctly, bring some wd40 for the alternator. Repels water.

Fluid film works great too. I think I will bring a spare though, just in case.

Swapped shot Sway A Way coilovers for Radflos, ATs for the MTs, left side tie rod, and cleaned up a few bits on the truck.
Still need to pack the truck and trailer for AW.

Changed the oil and put the skid plate back on...Couldn't get off work early enough to pick up my CL in ogdensburg so I'll just have to be real easy on the factory one.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Had to do a temp. fix on a seized e brake cable. has full disc. brakes but the e brake is like a drum brake. some taps with a hammer did the trick, my own fault, I do not use the e brake and a guy at a local lube shop pulled on the handle hard when getting an oil change. however more issues , when removing the tires. I noticed the inside side walls have failed. not happy, owned the car for only a year. I think the gorrud's gold used car standard should be changed to copper.
and of course the car will need a timing belt soon
I have been looking at some Nissan trucks for sale, if you are thinking of selling yours, send me a PM
Thanks Pete.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Man, did I do a lot of stuff to the truck this summer.
Brakes all around. New drums. Blew them up. CVs. Bearings on the front. Axle seals on the back. New rad. Welded up a new rad support. Several new brake lines. Retooled the snorkel intake. Replaced off-road lights. Painted all the steel. Refurbed the roof rack. Rubberized the under side. Rebuilt idler arm twice. Replaced the Warn locking hubs. New cat-back exhaust. Decided to get a personalized licence plate: KN0C7S8 - K is potassium. NO is nitrate. C7 is charcoal. S8 is sulfer. It`s what makes fireworks go BOOM! (AKA gunpowder.) Cut out rusted metal, and have made new metal (to be welded in soon). Painted all the grey plastic bits with black rubber.
Built storage box for trailer for camping gear and placing three boats on it easily.
I know there`s more, but I can`t remember.
