It cost me about $1000, but that was for the rockers, rear panels and a bumper with tire carrier. If I had to do it again, I don't think I would do the rear panels.

Not my rig but my friend and I painted his pathy today. Turned my garage into a paint booth with tarps. Came out alright, I guess. But it certainly isn't show quality  .

Worked on the X. I had one Revolver on the verge of coming undone, so took that apart, cleaned out the old grease, threw in some higher grade thread locker and then re-greased it. I also did an entire rear brake job, including new wheel cylinders. Took my time not to break anything, especially the brake line, and the drums were a pain to remove, but eventually got it all set. On the passenger side I realized I made a mistake on the drivers side parking brake cable spring, so I had to take that side back part again. My first time doing my rear brakes by myself on the X, and the first time ever doing drum wheel cylinders, took a while, but glad it went relatively well.

On the front however, that didn't go at all as planned. I took the discs, pads and caliper brackets off Ron's Frontier to put on the Xterra, but found out, they're every so slightly different. I had always thought that the gen 1 Frontier and Xterra were the same platform, maybe there was a change in 2002 with the 1.5, but they're not the same, and with that, the knuckles will be diffferent, so unless I convert all the front end related parts to those off the Frontier, they're not technically valid as spare parts.

Pads are of a slightly different shape. Frontier left, Xterra right

The caliper brackets, although obvious side by side, isn't so much. The bolt holes even line up, but you're missing milimeters to get the bolts on. If they did manage to get in, it would of been more obvious with the caliper, but I never got to that point
Frontier part on the left, Xterra part on the right

Discs are also just a tad different. Frontier on the left, Xterra on the right (I think)

Unfortunately I thought I'd be saving/recuperating money, but looks like I'll be ordering a new set of brakes for the truck...

Yep, it seem that the while the Xterras front brakes are the same form 2000-2004, the Frontier moved to use the Xterra front brakes/platform for 2003-2004.

It looks like 2002 and prior it's actually the same and compatible right down to 86 for the pads and discs (including the Pathfinder), and 92 for the calipers

Got the front brakes done, pretty much had to free up all the pins I priced out new brakets with boots and pins. While each part is cheap, add it all up and x2 and shipped I'm looking at $150 from RockAuto. For the price, I might as well get new calipers, and I think it's time; even the passenger side has a piston that wouldn't budge and have to remove it from the truck and use a vice to get it compressed.

The truck feels great now, but for the brakes, when I press them they feel good for a split second then soften right up. I take it I need to bleed them so more?

And it's an early morning tomorrow, cause I'm heading to Niagara!

Yeah, you probably didn't get all the air out.

Exciting truck news for me; new bosch icon wiper blades (woohoo).

Rockauto calipers? I looked at them but they want the old ones back with shipping at your cost :(

I"ll get the calipers locally. I wouldn't bother with them online. RockAuto was the only place that I could find that sold the brackets and pins (and boots) separate from the caliper.

Another thing I need to figure out is that my parking brake doesn't hold the truck. The pedal feels fine when I engage it, but I can't rely on it, which I'll need to if I want to put a remote starter back in; with it I can't park in gear...

Nd4Speed, for what it's worth places like parts source do sell the pins. Did a rear diff fluid change today myself.

Michel, have you checked to make sure your rear brakes are properly adjusted, and the parking brake cable isn't stretched (I think you can adjust that too).

Today I fixed my door lock, whenever I changed the lock cylinder I noticed I couldn't unlock the doors unless I turned it twice for the power locks. Turns out there is another plastic part that moves the lock rod up and down, and it was split. Took one off the parts truck and back in business.

I tried Napa and CarQuest, they said they were only available with the calipers, I never through to try PartsSource.

The drivers side should be good, and I think it could actually use some backing off since it much warmer then the rest. The passengers side could probably actually be tightened up. But even with one side, the parking brake should work ok, no?

I have no idea on adjusting the cable slack.

Need4Speed...speaking of those pins do you or anyone else know where to get the rubber boots for them? I belive I asked once and I forget if it was the dealer or PartsSource, but I recall one of them saying I'd have to buy the caliper??? Dose that sound right??....on another note, did the 300k oil change. Knock on wood no rattles or knocks. 5.1 liters of some golden motormaster synthetic. I do however have a bearing making noise which I'm pretty sure is the alternator, but as soon as I went to put a ghetto stehascope on it, it quoted down...of course.
