I think the pathfinder might get mad at me. I was looking at new(ish) sentras today. I want a 2013 or newer style one with the 6 speed manual. To compliment the truck, not replace it.

Tried to get my remote start installed on Sunday but that never got finished. At least I have remote locks again, but it doesn't help in the -20 to -30 weather...

And my Laminova cores came in today!

The main piece to working my way to be the first intercooled (and first tuned?) SC Xterra ;) Next step is that I need the measurements of plenum or underneath the supercharger to work on getting the aluminum block made to hold the cores. Anyone have a spare supercharger or upper intake manifold laying around and could take measurements and pics for me? Heh. That or I wait until the Rx-8 comes out of hibernation and I remove my own...

That's quite the unique project you got goin on there. I had to google what those were. So if I have it right those are a heat exchanger that sit between the blower and intake plenum some how? I imagine you need to somehow get a spacer made to fit between the two and have those inserted into the spacer? Am I right? Pretty unique undertaking, good luck with that man. All I got done today was my 305,000 oil change. Found a PS leak, but not yet motivated to get to it today :(

Reset timing and replaced timing belt on the V70...confirmed there's damage, sounds like a valve.

Depends on when the previous owner did it. If it was done at spec 105,000 miles (168,000km) and the failure occurred at 330,300km, which is 6,000km before it is due. The timing marks were marked with a grease pen so I'm fairly confident it has been done before. The belt was worn and cracking but did not come apart, I believe it slipped causing the intake cam to get out of time and likely causing valve damage.

"For proper functioning of the engine and emission control system, the timing belt and belt tensioner must be replaced every 105,000 miles (168,000 km) or at 120,000 miles (193,000 km) for the 2.5T engine on AWD models. Engine damage will occur if the belt fails."

Plan is to do a compression test and maybe scope it now, if the pistons are okay I'll look at a valve job or a rebuilt head.

Today I'm relaxing. Last week was crazy. I had to strip whatever I'm not keeping from Ron's old Frontier and scrap it since my grandmother's house will probably go up for sale to pay for her going into a home because of a spinal injury, but also had to get the trailer section ready for the 1000km trip back to Quebec. She tows well and very stable besides not having shocks, yet. Got a few funny looks, and a few thumbs up along the way, and an "a-ok" from a guy from a guy who was driving a Frontier of the same style as it was based off of. I kinda laughed as I seen him in the distance coming up to wonder what his reaction would be.

There's PLENTY of work to do on this to get her the way I want, but I'm just extremely happy she's rolling.

Image

Also, decided to quiet down the truck. She was pretty loud and drony, and not easy to talk, especially when we were 4 for the 1000km drive down, and figured towing a trailer on the way back it would be worse, so she went in, and now running dual mufflers! Don't laugh, it works great, easier to place than a resonator, and less restrictions.

Thanks!

Replaced the power steering pump on the X with the one from the Frontier. The bad one is a Napa pump replaced maybe a year and a half ago, but apparently had a lifetime warranty. What I would really like to do is get a smaller pulley on, would spin the pump faster so would give more assist in low RPM. Would be very useful when wheeling.
