Spring!

Post by Bow_Tied »

It was 11° here today. Got me thinking about spring and the maintenance etc.

I think I I need to brake maintenance and might need a new idler arm on the Jimmy.
The X will need brake maintenance. Both likely need oil changes.
This could be the year I install a winch.

What is on your spring 'to-do' list?

Get my front bumper back on with the winch. Tire rotation. Oil change is coming. Time to change diff fluids. Get the soft top on. Clean it inside and out. Install a couple of pucks to fix my jk lean.

Truck needs all fluids changed, except engine oil ironically. And the rockers... Gotta get started on that upcoming nightmare. Likely going to forgo the ones I bought and do the 2x4" tubing like Michel. Rear brakes are an issue, the parking brake doesn't hold and the pedal has a long travel. The shoes were new last year so likely needs adjustment. Oh and the idler arm is loose again but I'm so used to that I have like 5 spares.

Also Morpheus needs to start on his SAS so I can obtain a locker.

Ron I take it you're keeping the Jimmy to use as a wheeler?

Oil Changes on all 3 vehicles brakes on all three plus work on the back of the X where we touched the tree last year.

I have touched a tree a couple of times. Also, I should have a tune up soon.

At least for this season. As much as I'd love to wheel the new rig.... :squeam: I want to enjoy it not all effed up with trail rash for a year. This is the first new rig for me or anyone in my family for that matter. Once it's on the trail it's never the same. Plus I want to do some light mods to this rig anyway, so maybe I can get that done first. Hopefully.

I don't blame you. Keep it mint for as long as you can! Are you going to rustproof it? I use Krown oil spray up here, it makes a huge difference. My VW was done since new and it only has a few spots from stone chips.

That’s the plan, Crown... have done previous vehicles. However that poop bleeds out for months and years and ruins wash mitts. I hate that.

Yeah it does, but I'll take a few ruined wash mitts over welding in new rocker panels any day

I hear that!! Had a trailer for 10 years, not looking back lol. Maybe if it was just me (and a budget to really gear up well) but with the family I want the glamping style; don't need my vacation to be work too.

I've gone back and forth on getting a trailer, but I like keeping my footprint small and being able to just leave. I don't have kids though, so there's that. I think if I got anything, I'd get something I could tow the Xterra with.
