Love those Yellow XTerra's!

Post by Zeero »

Wow, hey guys, I'm not an Xterra owner, but man are those trucks nice at what they do.

I run a small non-profit corporation called Overland Expeditions, dedicated to adventure travel for charity.

In 2009 myself and my small team will be taking on our G2-Northern Challenge from Toronto Ont. to Tuktoyaktuk NWT. We will be going completely offroad from Vancouver area to the Dempster highway, then onto Tuk.

For every KM we drive from Van, we'll be accepting a small donation for each KM towards the Sick Kids Foundation, a charitable wing of the Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.

My reason for coming here, is that through the last two years we have been doing alot of product testing and vehicle testing for the G2 challenge, and we have become so incredibly fond of the yellow Xterra's, and thin you guys that are running them all kitted up are the luckiest SOB's around!

We really do think they are the perfect vehicle for our challenge, only problem is we can't get our hands on one, being non-profit, we take no profit for ourselves or the corporation, so there is no money for one, even a $5000 used one would be great, but we can't seem to scrape together the coin to do it. Uh oh.

So, we look around at places like this that you guys have put together and just kinda do this... .....

We've tried going the corporate donation route, and although we have had favorable responses, not many people are keen on helping, even for a charitable cause. :?

We have the backing of the Sick Kids Foundation a few proud sponsors and the tourism boards of Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and the Territories of Yukon and NWT.....so we're really champing to go, and don't want to let these people down.

Anyway guys, nice being here, I'll be looking forward to checking out more of the really awesome pics you guys have up of your trucks in action. :worthy:

Keep 'em coming....especially those nice Yellow ones!!!

Ya know, the pathfinders are cool to...the older ones though.... I like the Chilkoot Trail editions...but...do they come in yellow?? ;)

Yeah we sure do have a website.....we havent updated in awhile because our plans got put on hold, but some of it is still valid..... http://www.kjexpgroup.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You'll notice in our expeditions section that we should have gone on G2 this year, and G3 next year, but that got set back a year each....and you'll notice it is very Wrangler oriented as thats what we had to work with at the time.

Thanks for your interest guys....I'm loving the pics of all the trucks here!!

Sounds like a cool idea. Let us know how it goes.

Not many free yellow X's kicking around here but there is a lots of advice on mods: lifting, front/rear bumpers, winches, sliders, tires, etc...

HA!! - finally, a post about the cool factor of yellow.

Green is OK, but as Kermit pointed out so poignantly, "It's hard being green." Yellow, on the other hand, rocks. As for having a spare, yellow Xterra kicking around, sorry, can't help ya there.

I personally prefer that rare silver colour. The yellow is tacky as all hell, and the drivers of them are all a little off too...

:hmm:

Mmm, I'm thinking the jealousy around here is highly pronounced; I'd even say it's thick like pea-soup.
And thank you for the correction again today, Pezzy - although I find it hard to believe that you're not picking on me... :teeth:

I just read an article about G4 Challenge in Mongolia. Does it have anything in common with G2 Challenge?

And every Xterra looks great, only if... it's black :P:

G4 is a Land Rover thing.....its really has nothing much to do with 4x4 driving anymore, its more of a sales platform for Land Rover. Its mostly physical challenges now with a Land Rover transporting the contestants, mostly on roadways, to their next challenge.

Our "G's" stand for "Global".

G1 was is 2007, and our first expedition, it was officially called "G1-Red Rock Challenge". We drove across Canada from Toronto ON to Lethbridge AB, from there we headed in Montana and Glacier National Park and followed the Continental Divide Trail south as far as we could until we had to divert to reach Utah, where we spent 2 weeks in Moab exploring Arches National Park and the White RIm Trail for 3.5 days in Canyonlands National Park.

From there we headed back towards Toronto on a diagonal direct route, experimenting with endurance driving. Drive for 4 hours, and rest for 4 hours, while the other drives.....so we were none stop the whole way back.

A total of just over 9,000 kms.

G2, or "Global 2" Northern Challenge is approxiamtely 19,000 kms, and this time in the opposite direction....instead of to the deserts, we head across the Arctic Circle.

Land Rovers G4, has always been G4.....and I have no idea what its stands for.

So to answer your question, nope, not much similar at all. :teeth:
